Default 08 GXP random slow crank/no start

Hello all. Tried going to clubgp forum to ask this since it seems more active but website won't let me register.

Anyway....I have had issues this past two weeks with my car having a slow crank that usually doesn't allow it to start. Replaced the starter since it went out two days after this issue started as well as the battery the other day. It doesn't happen all the time but I've noticed it happens more when the car gets up to temp/running for 15-20 minutes. Sometimes when the long crank finally starts, my car runs like crap and all the traction/stability assitsa are disabled until I turn the car off and restart it. Also noticed static noise comes from my speaker when I crank over the car. Tried having my car scanned but it says it can't communicate with vehicle.

Also my interior lights stay on after the door has been closed and my auto locks will sometimes work and sometimes not engage til way later and continue to try locking for a minute or two.

Was leaning towards BCM but the getting hot and not starting makes me not so sure.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a bad ground somewhere.

Was wondering that. Is there somewhere that shows ground points? Don't have a jack right now so can't raise the car to look under neath. I'm semi knowledgeable about cars just clueless about finding grounds in this crammed engine compartment.

Thanks

Most of the time, power issues, whether its power or ground, originate at the battery. Usually due to corrosion.

We have no schematics here, but www.alldatadiy.com. Get yourself a one year subscription and you can get all the schematics you want.

Thanks man. I have new terminal ends and battery so that'* good there. I'll look into that site since I can't find any pics or diagrams anywhere. Thanks again. I'll be back if I figure it out.

Well, the first step, is to get a Tech II on this car and see which modules you can communicate with......could be a bad connection, ground(as Mike said), module, fuse, etc.

The fact you can't communicate means you can't even read codes....

With data lines, unless you have a Tech II and schematics, you don't even know where to begin...

There are TSB'* for harness connections, but you need a starting point.....

Hello. So was able to get the obd2 port to work. When I unplugged the onstar fuse to test if that was an issue I never put it back in and obd2 runs off that fuse. Also added another ground and car started fine for about a month until the other day. Now I just get a one click no start all the time and sometimes when trying to start the lights and locks go on and off quickly. Bought a nice terminal end for the ground and cleaned the grounds to the block. Adding more grounds doesn't help either.

Sounds like a weak battery........put a voltmeter across the battery, and turn the key to crank....what is the voltage reading? Has to be over 9.6 volts.....
