Smaller Machined Pulley
I have a 92 SSE that'* supercharged. Now I know my pulley for the supercharger is the smallest around. But I know I can get a smaller one machined for me. Is this wise? Do I want to go smaller on my 92? Will this cause any problems, has anyone attempted this?? Any information will be helpful. Thanks!

92, There is a 2.25" available through SCPerformance (check the Links Page to make sure this is the correct name--it'* something like that). I believe your pulley is a 3.0". As far as being 'bad' for your engine, I don't think it will hurt your engine, just give you slightly less gas mileage. What is hard on your engine is the type of driving you may be tempted to do with a smaller pulley. Check with Will Wren, he is your best source of info on the 92-95 SC models.

A smaller pulley will hurt the engine if a few mods hasn't been done to the car... the problem with a smaller pulley is that it does compress more air, but at the expense of generating more heat. This heat then translate into Knock ( fires before the spark ignites it ).. causing a higher KR ( Knock Retard ) value. Before modding the pulley I would recommend changing the T-stat, intake, exhaust ( headers if possible but no one has made a sport tuned headers for the Bonnie yet ). You'll also want to make sure that you have good ignition system too.

It'* a 92. Should already have factory headers like mine. Exhaust, intake, 180° thermostat, extra tranny cooler.....THEN the pulley from SCperformance. Ditto on Drifter. The pulley will be my last mod. I've done or am in the process of doing all the rest.
That pulley is the only one available for the 92-95 SC models......unless you make your own, which I've considered......
