So, i've been toying arounds with a SC idea.....
Okay, most of you will call me crazy, stupid, insane, derranged, etc.
I've been toying arounds with the idea of a 240 HP LeSabre. Something with plenty of ZIP, and something I can brag.
Now, aside from my promised new paint job, 16 inch rims and 225 tires, I was thinking adding an SC 3800 would add plenty of zip to this old man'* carridge.
Now, I haven't checked with the yards yet, but I'm just hoping I can find an SC 3800 from any car, as there must've been plenty of them made, it seems. So, basically, I'm looking for a 96 or newer SC 3800, with the subframe, ECM, wiring, transaxle, etc. Should the subframe fit on my lesabre? I ask, the subframe, as the newer SC 3800'* probably require extensive engine mount modding. I am capable of that, but its just too much of a hassle, lol.
My questions.
What would be a 0-100 (60MPH) time and 1/4 mile time be for a car that weighs about 1400 KG? What I am asking is, I read that a park ave ultra, weighs 3970, VS my lesabre'* 3080 lbs. The park ave ultra goes 0-100 in 7.6 seconds, so, in my lesabre, since it is (may be) a lighter engine, and the vehicle is lighter, it should have no problem doing it in 7 seconds, or less (0-100).??
16.54 Vs an 18.66 of the park ave ultra vs my lesabre pound to HP ratio. so, stick a SC 3800 in a lesabre, and you have a 12.83, LB to 1 HP ratio which would be quick! Is it worth it? OR should i stick with what i already have?
Whats the gas mileage of an SC 3800 in my buick? I'm not usually a lead-foot, but when the adrenaline rushes in, I just gotta have some power. But during down times, when I'm normally driving, I really want my 30 MPG highway mileage, not 25. Gas prices in the future are the reason.
So, what do you guys think??? wiring, welding, cutting, are NOT an issue for me.
The only factor, is the cost of a J-yard complete donor car. I don't want to get a newer car, I like this body-style better.
Anyways, thanks for reading my rant, and dream, lol.
BTW, the old engine? It'll have a use. I'll stick it in a Citation.. lol.

My car ran 15.3@87mph with a stock L67, a bit short on traction. I only brought it to the track once in stock form. With a 3.4 it ran 14.4@95mph, with a 2.5 60ft. My car may weigh a bit less however, but your results should be similar(or better if you have a stickier track).

Subframe dimensions is something you will need to look into the FSM'* to get.
Wiring is probably pretty straight forward like the Franken project.
Biggest thing hands down that worried Randman was the torque axis mount. And his 90 was already equipped with the holes and inserts from the factory. While the mount was never used until the 92 year, apparently GM had the engines in the works and planned ahead for the possible use.
Easiest way to do the swap, that Randy found was to get a salvage car and then you should never need any parts.

Ryan of GMtuners.com did a Series II L67 swap into a Lesabre like yours.
Or, you can take my approach, and swap Series I parts onto your existing LN3 head and block.

The best way from my experience in my own car and helping others is to get the entire drivertrain, front suspension, wiring and computer. Trying to find needed parts is not worth it, and neither is splicing axles. Trust me on this one. I just converted my front end to the 92+ struts.

Your best bet for a COMPLETE dropout is emailing Ed Morad, is stuff is prolly better quality than what you would get straight from the boneyard. GTPed@msn.com that where we get ALL our stock parts from, including a complete drop-out last week for a swap. And it will most likely be cheaper (depending on shipping).
I'm not much (if any) help in doing a swap like this, but we do have certain items that "may" help you out, like custom half shafts....
Good Luck!!!!! And if you decide to do the swap, I (we) would like to see pictures
Thanks-Jeremiah
