Default Would this be a good idea-- suspension related

I was thinking of ways to help weight transfer problems with my car. Correct me if im wrong, but isnt the idea to transfer as much weight as possible on the front wheels when your trying to get good times? So the best way to do this would be to jack up the rear end right? But about the only adjustable suspension i see out there is almost a grand at dp.com, but what if i could stack 2 of the factory airbags on top of each other on the rear end of the car that way you could get the height you wanted at the track but still be able to bring the car down for regular use. would this be possible at all. would it help any or what?

You can't stack springs, there are stiffer ones, and you could get new air struts from Monroe, and crank up the PSI a lot.

We have less of a problem with weight transfer than the 2000+. Empty your trunk, and jack up the ELC by unplugging the inflator selector valve, push on (on the inflator) wait 10 minutes, then pull fuse #12.

A cheaper more effective alternative would be to use removable rods to stiffen the suspension at this full-ELC height. From the subframe to the LCA. You can use quick-release pins to accomplish this. Probably under 100 bucks if you know someone that can weld for you. Distributing the weight on the subframe correctly would be critical.

But honestly, coil spring spacers, OEM suspension in good shape (replace old bushings on the rear), and good launching can get you into the 2.0 60foot times.

The biggest reason im asking about this is because my trunk wont be empty, my stereo will end up weighing a ton. I figured if i could use that wieght to sling my car forward, i could turn it into somewhat of an advantage

The weight will still kill you, simply because it'* there. Put the stereo junk on quick-disconnects, and remove it.

I still think that if i can get this thing high enough i can use that weight to my advantage, but i also think that it will be a PITA that i will never feel like dealing with. I guess ill try the elc trick and see if i can fabricate some kind of quick release when the stereo gets put in but thats really doubtful. But anyway thanx for the input. Also i could of sworn i saw a newer regal on leaf suspension a while back at work. has anyone ever even heard of this before?

You cannot use your weight as an advantage at the dragstrip. Anything you carry in the car, no matter where, will slow you down.

Ill look into that idea more on down the road don. and yes your right bill, there is no way that the extra weight can help me at all, im not trying to add weight to help me, but instead im trying to reduce the negative effects of having that weight there. thats what this post is all about. Thanx

I was kinda thinking about putting most of the air leveling system outta delta/bonne into my 86 delta88....

basically I wanna lower it 3.5 inchs while keeping my F41 springs stock (mount moving.. don't ask.. I'll post pictures when I do it ) ... with KYB GR2'* up front and sensatrac air struts in the rear .. I'm hoping the shock valving in the too will be atleast the same as the f41 struts or hopefully more aggressive (anyone know? )

at first I was just thinking about going with the KYB GR2'* all around.. but I might be doing some moderate towing and heavy loads in the trunk now and then... and ofcourse for fun and giggles the occasional Bracket race weekend, and occasional AutoX
