Default Made a selectable boost bypass switch...

So I was experimenting and found *long ago but tested it on this car too* that with the BBV plug undone, the car cannot burnout and only builds 4 lbs of boost max. I know from doing L67 swaps which wire does what. There is one wire that goes to the PCM that allows it to do what I am doing with a switch... disable the circuit and dump the boost.

I grabbed a push button switch with two leads on it that you put inline with a wire to open or close the circuit. Cut the YELLOW wire from the BBV plug and ran it to my switch. I put the switch in the car running the wires through the door jam for now to test it.

Out on the road, it'* funny as heck cuz you can use it like NOS :P I would floor it, build 4lbs of boost and click the lil button and BAM 10 lbs of boost hehehe it was pretty cool.

So anyway, the purpose of this is three fold, one, if I have to loan the car to someone for the day I can all but make the car powerless with this switch, and two, if someone parks it or a dealership works on it, no fun for them.

Lastly, for the track.

The car responds very well to turning the circuit back on. When at the track, I don't care how sticky it is, I can spin them to the 1/8th if I'm not careful. SO, my intention is to disable the BBV at the stage... floor it to shift the weight and take off with 4lbs of boost and be on the edge of spinning the tires, after movement has taken place, CLICK, and it quickly but gradually allows full boost to kick in from a moderate roll which SHOULD hold to the track once i'm off the line.

I tested it and once I hit 20mph I enabled the circuit and got a bit of chirp but it took off hard.. so far so good, we will see if this will help my 60'* or not..

Either way, it'* fun to mess with...

You might be on to something here......I'll jerry rig something for the weekend and we can compare results, could help at the track but would it be consistant?

If you really wanted to time it right, use a Brake button at the track, and have the BBV come on at a certain delay lol....

Is the voltage that goes to it variable or is it on/off?

30 */C BOOST BOOST CONTROL DUTY CYCLE (L67 ONLY)
% DC = (N * 100) / 256

It uses a full Word on the ALDL output, and it has a duty cycle, so I'm assuming it'* voltage.

Yea a potentiometer mounted somewhere so you can turn it up as you wish

personally I'd use a pair of things... a 2step rev limiter (attach it to the brake switch) and an rpm activated switch

do your burn out (if you do one) and activate the boost rpm switch... roll up and stage... power brake and sit on the 1st stage limiter with your foot on the floor waiting for green. green flashes, foot off the brake car takes off @ only 4psi giving you WAY better traction and launching @ rpm to overcome normally highway type gears... your rpm comes up and the rpm switch flicks over allowing full boost and your gone

you can ofcourse add a secondary switch in the circuit to use like a "valet" mode
