Default My exhuast and intake are in!!! :)

For those who care to see it or haven't yet, I have updated pics of my 1994 SLE with the Magnaflow muffler with tips, and the cold air intake all installed.
Just go to my cardomain page (link in my signature) and check page 2.
I wasn't too impressed yesterday, but today with much colder air (34* today vs 55-60 yesterday) it is very gutsy. Maybe I will stick with the 3" muffler for a while.

Where did you get that K&N intake from. I'm looking for something like that, just direct bolt-on, and how much did the intake cost ya if you don't mind me askin.

Well, I saw the intake listed on ebay by a local salvage yard. It had a opening bid of $25 and a BUY IT NOW option of $75. Well, I watched the auction and watched it and was goign to bid at the very end. Well, I wasn't home when the auction ended, but when I saw it hadn't sold I drove over to the yard and asked if they'd take $20. All the guy said was "...get that hunk out of here -all it'* doing is cluttering up the stereo shelf!" So I gave him the $20.
When I got home though I found the tb adapter hose was too small so I went to the local Freightliner parts dealer and got myself the 9" chunk of radiator hose (this stuff cost'* $18 per foot, but since it was under a foot and there was no way to break down the price they just gave it to me for free) and the fit was perfect, after cutting it down to 3.5", so I still have enough left of that hose to do another TB adapter (anyone want to buy it -that is pay $5 for shipping and it'* yours).
For the air intake sensor I just put the tip in the rubber hose and then used matching blue 3M electrical tape to tape it so it stayed in the hose when the hose got warm and expanded.
Needless to say, the setup works perfect. I might consider chopping 2" off the pipe and getting a little longer filter.
When I first put it on I still had the stock 2.25" stainless steel exhaust system. I thought it sounded like a European exotic when given heavy throttle. Then when I took it in yesterday for the muffler and tips to be installed the shop owner asked me what kind of exhaust system I had on because it sounded "different, but in a really good way -because I had seen you give it some pedal yesterday and I was really intrigued." Needless to say I was floored, but told him it was still the stock original system, but that I had a cold air intake was what was giving it the custom sound. Now after the new muffler and tips were put on I lost the awesome sound, but power is kind about the same (at first it felt like I had gone too big, but today with the temps in the mid 30*'* it really feels a little better than before.

Overall, I am getting happier.

Default Intake

The only thing i would consider changing on your intake is the location of the IAT sensor. The sensor works by having the incoming air pass over it. You have it in a hose that isolates it from the cold air comming in. Definately not a good thing. It should be located in the flow next to the K&N. Like those Tips...
