What can be expected from these mods?
I plan on doing the full tune-up by the end of the week.
Near future plans are NGK TR55 plugs, new wires, 180 t-stat, rice pipe CAI, and a 2.2 pulley. Are any exhaust mods absolutely necessary at this point? Could I get by with the stock exhaust (all brand new within the last year - cat back), or should I throw a better muffler on to at least help open it up a bit? WIll I suffer anything by not doing any exhaust mods at this point? The car is 100% stock right now with 85k on the clock. With the mods I've listed, what could be my potenetial HP area at the wheels, without any exhaust work yet? Car runs 100% right now. Thanks for any input. |
Series I are not really my forte but the pulley with a better intake will probably net you an extra 30HP and 50 ft/lb Torque.

You're starting out at 225/260, so you'd be about 250/300 after the pulley and intake. Exhaust isn't a REQUIREMENT, but changing your muffler to a better-flowing unit might buy you another 5hp??

With a pulley, you should definetly get a free flowing exhaust. Keep in mind that removing bottle necks is most important for performance, don't get a superhigh flow 3" cat, and then leave the stock muffler. Keep them all on the same level.

95' stock #s are 225hp/ 275lb.

Oh. one question. A 180T/stat just prevents the car from getting sluggish after being hot for awhile. Correct?

I like to describe the effects of the 180 as preventing the initial heat saturation. The cooling system can keep up with things a bit easier that way.
