Default Best brakes?

Does anyone have any recommendations on what the best pads/shoes for use with stock rotors/drums? What'* the preferred upgrade for rotors? I know you want to stay away from ceramic pads with stock rotors....

Yes and I have over 6000 miles on them and love them. Very little brake dust, no fade and great stopping power. I replaced the front rotors with new stock ones and had the rear ones turned down.

That'* interesting, Wilwren advised against it. I just had my rotors turned and I used basic, no-name, pads and they stop ok with little dust, but their noisy.. they tend to squeek a lot.

I also recommend ceramic pads, with or without slotted discs, they work just fine with an OEM disc. They last a lot longer and don't leave nasty dust everywhere.

I've been running Hawk Ceramics on the front for about 30k and Had them checked a couple of weeks ago, and I still have half of the pad left. I also run SP Performance Cross Drilled, slotted and vented rotors on the front.

Thanks for the posts, I'll have to price ceramics out. I"m surprised they're not too hard for those stock rotors..... huh. :o

Everything is a compromise.
Of course a harder, longer wearing pad like Ceramic is going to be more abrasive on your rotors. You can see the metallic shavings in the ones I have.
You could use softer OEM carbon pads ( I only got 25000 mi out of my original pads ) and your rotors will last a lot longer.
I expect to replace my rotors after every second pad change, unless I don't catch it in time and damage or warp the rotors.
