Default Magnaflow Cat Converter

Ok i have an 02 bonnie sle and want to upgrade cat converters. But what confuses me is that i look under the car and see the factory cat and im not sure if i can just go to jegs and order the magnaflow high flow converter. Such as the round or oval. And the stock one has the 02 sensor connected to it. How would i go about getting an aftermarket converter from jegs and putting the 02 sensor in and not having any problems? Or would i have to go to the other bonneville online shop adn get the magnaflow converter that looks exactly like the stock setup? WOuld that be easier? I know the ones off of jengs are around 80 bucks. How would i go about doing this without any issues. I already have aftermarket mufflers (dynomax) and i want it to sound better and get some preformance out of it at least! And what would happen to the 02 sensor? THANKS

The cheapest way for you to do it would be to order whatever part # is commonly purchased off Ebay. The CarSound/Magnaflow converters I believe are about 60 bucks shipped, do some searching and you should find the right information, Im a little bit out of touch with things like that at the moment.

The 02 sensor can be dealt with in several ways, 1 you could just get a converter that already has a hole built into it for the sensor. 2 you can have the exhaust shop weld in whats called an 02 bung into your piping so you can just relocate the sensor. Or 3 you can get an 02 spoof and get rid of the sensor altogether.

Personally Id go with option #2 since its the cheapest and you can still monitor the catalytic converter that way.

you can go with a universal Hi Flow Cat (I prefure MagnaFlow) then get a INTENSE PCM with a rear O2 delete (and a few other tweeks) and have a nice little starting point

what if i just went with littlehoov'* idea and just go for option 2 and get one of the universal magnaflow cats from like jegs...Im impatient. I could just got pick it up from the local one near me. Id rather pay the extra 20 bucks and have it today than wait! Im just that type of person......i know! Would that work also? How much welding do u think they would have to do and what do u think of the prices for doing something like that?

When I stopped in at a friend at a muffler shop and asked him how much to weld one in, he said under a hour to cut the old out out, and weld in a new one. So ask the hourly rate and you shoudl be close to the cost.

You can get any universal high flow cat. It will install in front of the O2 sensor so there is no need to worry about deleting it or getting a reprogrammed PCM for that. You just have to install it and the car will take care of the rest.

ok let me get this right....pardon my ignorance! I appreciate everyones post though, so ok my stock cat looks liike it bolts up to the end of the downpipe? thers like a square piece. What exactly will they do when they put the universal one on? Will they cut the old off where the downpipe is and weld the new universal cat on and then the 02 already being there adn then weld again to the existing pipe? Can they use the old 02 sensor and are you sure it wont throw any codes? IM JW because i dont want to have something f*ck up on my care. But again im new toa ll of this so pardon my ignorance! Also, what size to u think my pipe is? I have an 02 bonneville sle....
