Default Tuning Specs L36 +MPG/Performance?

I just got this digitalhorsepowerinc tuner and software. The guy used it when he swapped a N/A engine in his Monte Carlo with a SC one and used this to flash the pcm or whatever, change the vin and set up the specs with pulley add-ons and deletes.

SO, with my car he said I can use it, and when it comes to changing all the stock specs to ones for better fuel economy and/or performance, HOW DO I DO THAT?
After plugging everything in and everything read to go, what do I have to, or not to, change in order for a better ride (already installed the shift kit for 4t65-e). So like what are the specs I need to know and numbers and all that, what should I do to change anything? Has anyone already done so, what are your results? Thanks
by the way I have a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville SLE

DHP has not been supported by the manufacturer for years, and it is my understanding that you need to know a lot more about tuning to use it vs something like HPTuners.

If you have not added any mods, and your fuel trims are normal, then I would not mess with it, and even if you have added some mods, trying to tune the car without knowing what you are doing will most likely end in you destroying your engine.
For around 100.00 to 150.00 you should be able to get somebody that tunes for a living to do it.

I'd suggest finding some books on tuning, and learn a good bit before even considering to do it yourself.

Not sure how much it will help you learn about tuning, but here is the manual for DHP, it wouldn't hurt to read it.

What he should have done was included a backup of the original PCM file he pulled from the PCM. I'm not familiar with your type of programmer, but with my HPTuners, I can actually grab a similar 3800 file and do a write compare. The software looks for differences in both files and it will ask me what things I want to change over.

Does your programmer scan live data also?

yes it does scan live data, its good checking everything, there are some old files but idunno what I'm really looking at. and yea I'm better off having someone do something, but I'm not sure what should be done exactly if my car could use a "tune"-up

Are you able to send me the file from the car itself?
