Alright let me start over. I'm sure you have better things to do than babysit a newbie. This is my daily driver. Here'* what I'm looking for...............
1) more low end perf.
2) I likes a throaty sound from the exhaust
3) Don't want to break the bank.
4) What gains can I expect on this car for more low end perf. w/ just FWI, hi flow cat, 180 deg. stat. Lets suppose I wanted to spend up to $750. Where would that money be best spent to achieve my first objective? Part numbers would be greatly appreciated for the parts you reccomend. Your're the pros, I'm new to 3800. Don't mind DIY. Had plenty experience with rice burners and am journeyman machinist by trade. In other words I'm not scared to play with the motor. But keep in mind I just want to achieve a quicker more responsive daily driver with a throaty sound. I will also keep open the possibilty of other mods if I'm thrilled with the results.

So you da man. I the apprentice. So help me out. Your expertise is greatly appreciated.

My list for you:
1. 180 T-stat. Your engine is prone to Lower Intake Manifold (LIM) gasket failure which can destroy your motor if not addressed. The t-stat will be a good preventative measure.
2. Intake: Fenderwell intakes seem to be the most popular mods around here.
3. PCM: Small gains but it makes most other mods you do more affective. Intense has a page that gives you advice as to what tweeks would be best for you.
4. Shift kit: Tranny failures do happen, more so on supercharged 3800s but it still wouldn't hurt. Plus it firms your shifts for better acceleration.
5. Rockers or headers: You'd have to pick only one to stay under750 and they both have different gain characteristics.

Exhaust mods other than headers won't do much for power but a new muffler and installation will probably run under 150. But thats if you don't want tips too.

Thanks hugger10. But I still don't know what transaxle I have.,where to buy shift kit, ort what PCM to buy. As for rockers, it seems to be said that the ER 1.8 should be the way to go for what I'm looking for. Thoughts?

For the PCM: intense-racing.com From there go to Intense Store>GM 3800 Series II/III>Electronics & PCM>INTENSE™ Powertrain Control Module From there you fill in all the things it asks you and it is pretty comprehensive. Fill it out with future mods in mind.

And you should find the shift kit under the same engine category. It will say TransGo 4T65E Shift Kit.

As for the rocker, I have no clue what ratio youd need, but whatever that may be, I haven't had a problem with my yella terras i got from intense. Like they said give Todd a call, smart guy.

In addition to the lowers, the L36 engine'* UPPER INTAKE fails too.
I don't want to scare you off but if you want to invest in preventative maintenance check this out. If you can do it yourself it'* not terribly expensive and it'll ensure your motor lasts a LOOOONG time. It'* unfortunate but basically inevitable. Like stated though, the 180* tstat may buy some time, and will be good for the future as well.

Get ER rockers from ZZ Performance. They are maximized for naturally aspirated cars and I believe you should be able to run stock springs.
No need for headers yet. PEM'* and a high flow cat will do you nicely.
I'm not up to date on where to get PEM'* but you can always buy a set of manifolds and have them sent to a shop to add material around the flanges and then port. MUCH cheaper than a set of headers

Thanks for all help. Will update post after all mods installed. Will install UIM kit when doing rockers. After these are done hi flow cat and muffler to follow. Anyone who has done any of these mods, any install help would be greatly appreciated.

After all that I would recommend, if you don't already have, NGK TR-55 v power spark plugs, Beldin 8mm plug wires. A nice drink of full synthetic motor oil (I like Quaker State advance Q). You can also optimize your TPS and ensure it has correct voltages, a guide is here: http://www.geocities.com/carnutguy/c...hancement.html
Also a Throttle Body/MAF sensor cleaning wouldn't hurt, a guide for that is here http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=64
Your installing a FWI? don't use a cheap air filter, even if it looks nice. Ask anyone.

Glad someone said UIM. The UIM swap out and LIM gaskets are things you should head for first. Get the maintenance as I call it out of the way.
