Transmissions

I have a transmission rebuild comming up on my 96 SE and am wondering if i can swap out the 4T60-E with the 4T65-E. I wonder this because a freind of mine has offered me a good deal on a 4T65-E.

Not a simple swap. You'll need a 98 or newer PCM to go with it. Your current PCM won't know what to do with that 65.

Is that the only problem though with the swap? other then that is it straight forward? How about the wiring harness, is that all the same?

i have a 1998 SLE and am wondering if i can swap out the 4T60-E with the 4T65-E. is it possible?

jbspy 03-31-2007 08:15 PM

i do than wy dus my 1998 at 65 mph run at about 2000RPM and my 1994 sse at 65MPH ran about 1500?

dillcc 03-31-2007 08:18 PM

Maybe you have different gearing :?
Either way, trust us..if you have a '98, you have a 4t65.

jbspy 03-31-2007 08:22 PM

ok cool
is it better to buy a new tranny or buy a junk yeard one and rebuild it and than put it in my car?

dillcc 03-31-2007 08:27 PM

Yes, Intense Racing sells shift kits for the 4T65's.
