Transmission: 1 or 2? 2 or 1?

What its boiling down to is that my trans is going to need work in some related way by spring time. I'm putting far beyond the power that the stock trans is listed to handle and obviously am wearing parts down very quickly. So I've been throwing ideas around:

1.) Limited slip and replace most damage prone trans components (with higher quality aftermarket parks if the money is left)
2.) Taller gearing and replace almost every worn part with billit-proof components.

In short, I either get a car I can launch easier or a car that gets to speed quicker.
Just throwing ideas around here, any input?

I would probably keep the stock gearing, so your highway won't suffer. So an LSD would be a good way to go. If you have the cash, replace those old parts with good solid ones. If you are going to be racing a lot, this will be good insurance for you.

i suppose you need to think about...
How much do you have to spend?
Are you planning on modding the car further?
Will a large drop in MPG bother you?

If you have alot to spend, plan on going faster and dont care about MPG, think about an INTENSE unit.

If you are on a limited budget and are satisfied with your current power, and you do alot of highway driving, maybe think about a rebuilt/new GM transmission with an LSD.

You will probably need a LSD either way, as it will be close to impossible to lauch with steeper gears.

I know I'll bite myself in the butt later, but I'm taking the "full fledged racing" approach. Yes its my daily driver, but I only go to work and classes for the most part.
As for the question: "Are you satisfied with your current power?"
The answer is: Yes....for now.

It's coming down to tuning the car to perfection so I can race it and drive it to get the most possible out of what the drivetrain can do. Aka: Maximum efficiency.

I always said I'll never go as far as a cam, so far so good.

so you dont see yourself throwing another $2-3k into the engine?

if you want maximum efficiency I would say go for a rebuilt trans and an LSD. The new trans should last for as long as you own the car.

Save that extra money for some more power

I'd say a LSD and HD torque converter.

And maybe a bulletproof input shaft.
