I was bored, looking at supecharger systems, and i came across an amazing idea.

I found a rebuild on an M90 blower that looks like this :



Apparently that modified intake port, by exposing the rotors increases volumetric efficiency by 8 lbs at 3500rpm

This unit apparently produces 20+ PSI with 10% overdrive pulley

I'm going to do a little more poking around, maybe contact them and see about a M90 designed for a GM...

I'm really starting to like this idea.. Its meant for a T-bird, but they use the same blower just different mounting configuration.

Its an idea i dont think anyone on here knew of yet!

I'm sure 19lbs is possible, ONLY if you have an IC, open exhaust, and some internal work.

Without that, I can just see the engine going nuts.

I wonder if the T-bird engine is lower compression than ours, cause that much boost would bust internals right quick!!! What kind of engine is the T-birds? Is it a v6 or 8?

Matt, you realize that won't work on your 95 without a major change in pulleys and a custom lower intake manifold?

The T Bird is a 3800 V-6 with aluminum heads. I bet 20 PSI of boost would blow the valve covers off. I had an early T Bird SC. Blown head gaskets were a way of life ...

Yes i realize that a Series 1 3800 uses an M62. Perhaps there are people on this board that have a Series 2 with an M90? I guess i was thinking outside of the box rather than selfish, so that maybe other people could benefit from my findings. I also said i was going to get in contact with them to find out about a possible M62 option for other makes.

Anyway, yeah the T-Bird uses a 3.8L engine, its not a 3800. 3800 is an engine classification used by GM. The Ford 3.8 is a 232ci apposed to the GM 231. The Ford also has hydraulic roller lifters, wedge combustion chamber, and uses more aluminum materials than the 3800. It has a 8.2:1 compression ratio. This all adds up to 315 ft/lbs of torque and 210 hp. Oh did i mention it has an Air to Air IC stock?

I think this idea would work, since there isn't really a need for an IC since the supercharger isn't winding any faster to produce the boost due to its design change.

I have a M62 supercharger laying around, im going to investigate into what can be done to mimic but not copy this MagnaPort II supercharger rebuild.

Hopefully others will look around a bit.
