Only if you have it programed wrong.
There are no off-the-shelf chips available for your year/engine IIRC.
And it'* generally not recommended to get a chip untill you have done some mods to get you flowing better.
In other words, a chip isn't going to do much unless you are unlocking potential from new mods.

you have to get an EEPROM setup check out www.sinisterperformance.com they also make interface cables so you can see what your engine is really doing
