I dont know, i change mine every spring, what ever brand it is
K&N are good, you will not notice any gain from a "better" filter, the difference is probably minimal in performance, more than that you have to run without a filter
They are probably both lubricated.
Id stick with K&N since its known to do the job well.

The don't have any analytical data on their site to back up their claims that they're better, nor do they name K&N in their comparisons.
They make some claims on their FAQ page, but none of them are really defined. One major difference is they have different 'stages' of filter material. This in my mind would make them harder to clean and re-use. I think (from what I know about flow dynamics) this MIGHT make them perform worse over time, and never fully recover. I'm not a rocket scientist.
I can also tell you the K&N would almost certainly flow better comapring equal surface areas.
I don't think there'* a car on this site that can outflow a large K&N cone.
I have never heard of a car with a K&N suffering from particulate damage to the engine.

A local performance store who also sell K&N told me that AFE were former K&N employees who werent happy with the filter and started there own company and showed me how on the inside at the neck it is rounded for laminer flow and the k&n is not and blah blah blah.
I just wanted to ask BC as I know nothing about AFE.The thing is he could just have tried to sell me a K&N.Also is it the bigger the better? I will stick with K&N though.

What about size - is it bigger the better and if so what size are you guys using for FWI.

Check out INTENSE'* site for the FWI filter. That'* setup for some BIG-FLOWING 3800'*. Anything bigger than that or an RX-4750 would be pointless, unless you wanted more runtime between cleanings.
