seriously why did you only post that. obviously i think it'* a good idea thats why i said it. why wouldn't you back up your disagreeance with some facts? please explain why a trip to Home Depot for your air intake is a bad idea...

Good point John... The backup.
Picking up plastic tubing at Home Depot seems like a good idea. However it will soften and bend a bit with underhood temps. In the end..you really want something sturdy and well built that won't cause any possible problems down the road.

Because PVC heatsoaks faster than most materials, you can't get truly smooth joints to prevent turbulence and increase velocity, and it outgasses toxic crap when it heats up. Considering the intake would be directly over the exhaust crossover, this is a BIG factor.
Home Depot intakes are the WORST possible option. Staying stock would be preferred over a PVC setup.

does pvc heat soak faster then aluminium?
with a FWI you wouldn't have any bends at all just a straight pipe...
you could easily insulate your PVC pipe with materials at HD...right?

i suggested pvc for these reasons:
made a pvc intake for a buick roadmaster no problems
made a pvc intake for a buick century no problems
alot of the maxima guys use it and have 0 problems.
i do realize your exhaust pipe does come closer then on other cars...

PVC is commonly shaped and bent with boiling water. That'* at a temperature pretty darn close to the temps directly above the crossover pipe.
Now how are you going to make a smooth bend radius without fittings that will induce turbulence at the joints? That turbulence kills velocity.
How are you going to bend it to make the turn to the TB without having it relax later?
Check my engine bay pic. You see where the cooling duct for the SC/TB is? Mounted to the upper radiator support? It used to have more of a bend, and was mounted closer to the center (crossed over just about where the oil cap is). It relaxed to it'* current shape from heat from the front EM collector.
A soft pvc intake in a hot environment is asking for disaster. Particularly if it gets TOO hot in summer.
