Lookin to make that HID conversion. Whats the best kit you guys have found? found this site but dont know how good they are. Give me some feed back.

These are what I run. You can't beat the cost and support with a stick.

Did you do a search by vehicle or does it matter? 35 w or 55 w? And our lowbeams are the 9005'* right? dont have the manual in front of me. And did you go for the dual in dual out harness option, error code eliminator, adaptor cables or mounting brackets?

Vehicle doesn't matter, their kits use the 9005 plugs on the harness so you're good there. 35W is plenty. 9005 I do believe yes. Dual in dual harness too, but it'* not really needed. No mounting brackets, they didn't have those when I bought them. I just used 3M double sided tape and some zip ties to mount to the back of the radiator support.

Did the same with mine. DDM tuning kit. 35W @ 6000k. But I think the low beams are actually 9006s. The 9005 is the high beam.
Didn't need any adapter wiring, the car doesn't care.
Only piece of advice I have to offer really, is that some cars are backwards wired. I know mine was. Halogen bulbs don't care which is + and which is - on the harness. But the ballast for HIDs does. If you plug in the harness to the ballast, and they don't turn on, flip the connector around the other way. I put mine in, went to turn them on, and got nothing. Then read where some cars are wired in reverse. Turned the plug around, and bingo. Just something to watch out for, I know it caught me off guard.
The DDM kit has been great. I've had mine for almost a year and a half now, and no issues.

I had to get the wiring kit, but that'* because I'm using retro'd in projectors and needed the extra length it gives me.

Also, if you ever do have a problem with DDM tuning they do lifetime warranty so they'll fix you up quick.

Mouse, those ballasts are huge. Which kit did you get? Is that the Raptor kit?

The slim ballast kit I got from DDM was priced a bit higher than the Raptor, and at the time, had the lifetime warranty, where the Raptor only had a year or two.
The ballasts on my kit are about the size of a playing card deck, and black. I actually tie wrapped mine right behind the housing. It came with extra wiring, but I chopped it off, since I really didn't need the extra.

yea looks like the Raptor kit. Which is what i got. I believe our cars r 9006'* I got the 35w 6000ks. They work great. DDMTuning is the only place to go. Great prices, lifetime warranties, ect my high beams dont work so i just got bright low beams. LOL.

not sure if u know but cant use HID'* for highbeams, just for future info.
the ballists dont like to be switched on and off.

I got a quick question Mouse... do u recieve a warranty card from DDMTuning of do u just contact them with your info? I dont remember recieving anything from them with my Raptor kit

I'm also a fan of DDM Tuning. I bought a pair of 4500k 35W fog lights. Overall, I'm very pleased with the results. My fog light housings aren't melting, and they're bright enough so that at night, every green road sign suddenly jumps out at you.

If you're trying to decide between 35W and 55W, take a look at these fog lights and ask yourself if they're bright enough.

Now, as far as mounting the ballasts are concerned, if you don't mind putting a gentle scratch in them, you'll find that they will fit snugly in various places. For example, you can fit one in between the frame and the battery tray. (Excuse my dirt.) You'll need to remove your battery for this one.


Remove your airbox, and you can stick the other one under the circular airbox mount, up against the PCM bracket. (Again, excuse my dirt.)


Neither ballast is tied down or Velcroed, and they haven't moved in nearly a year.

Somewhere on this forum, you'll find an excellent post that explains nearly everything you've wanted to know about aftermarket lighting. Basically, for headlights: low-beams only, and modifications are suggested to keep from blinding oncoming cars.

I actually did get the 9011 HIR bulbs for my high beams, and they are amazing. I usually just ran the HID lows, now, with the highs so bright, I find myself switching them. I know its bad for the ballasts on the HID, so I am probably going to get another set of 9011s and cut the base to fit the low housing. I live out in the country, so I switch back and forth when I'm driving.
If you are considering HIDs, these are a great alternative. The HIDs are great, but scatter too much without extensive modification. Granted, they don't have a nice blue tint, but they are very bright. These were also discussed in the sticky thread about aftermarket lighting.
