I needed rotors to pass inspection. DP has something called Frozen Rotors which are supposed to be more durable and better than RSM slotted. I received mine they are not slotted but have directional dimples on the surface. I'm not sure of that benefit but I guess the engineers know it. I decided to paint my calipes and drums yellow during the install and when I went to put the calipers on and bleed them, the bleeder screws broke off on both sides from me forcing them. I then tried to bypass and just bleed from the hoses but that didn't work. So I wasted paint because I had to purchase 2 rebuilt calipers from Autozone $41 ech w $25 core. I bled all 4 wheels, refilled w that new HD 450F brake fluid and used Autozone'* Albany pads I also had to replace my driver side hub bearing but anyway here is the result of my 2weeks period with these new rotors.

#1. After the brakes are heated up on a hot day if I press hard and hold to come to a stop I notice a fade that I don't like.

#2. I notice if I lightly grab the brakes at highway speed I'll get a slight vibration as if rotors out of round.

#3. The past 2 nights I have noticed a slight squeal while appling the brakes at low speed.

I don't know if these symptoms are a result of the rotors, brkae pads or mastercylinder, etc Maybe you guys can give me some insight?? :?

Are these rotors balanced at all? Some HI PO ones are, but most of these consumer performance ones probably aren't. I'd say make sure everything is torqued to the right specs and your fluid levels are good, and you're bled properly before trying anything.

I believe the frozen rotor vendor (NOT DP) has come in here before advertising in posts, so i don't know if i like their practices.

#1 That may change after they're fully broken in, but probably has more to do with your pads than the rotors. Try ceramics. My RSM'* bite harder as they get harder, but I'm running ceramic pads.

#2 Again, that may change in a week or two. Keep an eye (or foot) on it.

#3 Ceramics may help, and I hope so, but full slots would help too. I'm interested in an update in another 2 weeks!

Well that'* good to hear, i know that there was a lot of rotor debate before, and now my left pedal is bouncing slightly.... Sometimes i can re-apply the brakes at a slower speed and it goes away? I was gonna check them to make sure they were tight first...

Like I said I'm in the market, i'd love to see how these go, i'll quit stealin this thread.

OK. I get the idea. I have lifetime Albany'* so I'll be upgrading this weekend to ceramics.

Are there different qualities of Ceramic pads ? I put a set first on my Regal in the rear and results were unsatisfactory. Just recently I put a set on the front of the wifes LSS and she noticed imeadiatly that her brakes had less power. I am going to go back to carbon metalic and not worry about brake dust. I also noticed that all the shows I've watched about track prep they use carbon metalic or even special race pads and Ceramic is never mentioned.

With your rotor there is special way to brake them in and temper them I guess. I cant give exact method but it amounts to little more than one quick stop at slow speeds and then alowing the brakes to cool all the way and thats it. I have warped new rotors by not breaking them in proper. I hope you didnt do this.

I installed the ceramics yesterday. The Autozone rep wanted to sell me carbon metalic. He said the difference is ceramic gives off white powder and carbon black. I noticed on his parts lookup computer there was a notation on the screen that said something like "superior stopping power". So I'm not sure if I did a good thing or bad but will see.

You won't see the Ceramic dust. It'* nearly white, and VERY light. They WILL grip harder when the rotors heat up, quite the opposite of fade

Ceramic pads can quickly warp stock rotors, but performance rotors should be fine. They work great on my RSM'*, and the RSM'* were specifically designed for ceramic pads.
