M1 syn. and a N/G 1036 oil filter,,great combo,,UOA's come back impressive
every time.......little to no wear. $.02

The best explination I have heard for the "synthetic leak " is based on the fact that it has better detergent properties.

An engine run with cheap conventional oil and, cheap filter or not changed often enough, will have seals that are sealed by the sludge build up. When switched to synthetic oil the sludge is cleaned away and now you have a leak.

If you have used quality conventional oil, quality filters and, proper change intervals; you will not have any problems switching to synthetic.

I put in synthetic shy of my 200k mark on my 93 and it hasn't leaked a drop. Heck, my 93 is like a rock anyway. :)
