Comparing generations (92, 93, and a pair of 2000'*)
Just a few observations from WCBF. More specifics and details later, and other attendees might add their thoughts to this:
We each took turns driving each other'* cars. driverjohn, 2000SilverBullet, PontiacDad, PontiacMom, and even driverEd (john'* dad). Each person drove most or all the other cars Saturday night.
I think my dream car would be the weight and throttle response (boost response) of Greenzilla, mated to 2000SilverBullet'* drivetrain, with PontiacDad'* pulley and PCM. Greenzilla had equal or better 60' times at the track, but then got run down by the 2k'*. Those two cars have some legs on the good runs. Times improved through the day when the wheel speed sensors were disconnected on Friday. I'll take the Bullet'* shift kit, too. All four SSEi'* in attendance were capable of double-wheel burnouts at different times. Seems random. All burnouts at the track were WITHOUT water, we drove around, and heated up on the stick VHT only. Greenzilla was able to burn out steadily all the way from the skid pad to the tree before almost every run. Both 2k'* had great burnouts as well (even better than mine).
During the car swap on Saturday, I hit torque management in 2000SilverBullet at a certain point........and Paul and O'neil also found it in each other'* cars. The DHP and INTENSE PCM'* still have not totally disabled this. The power drops off, car stumbles, and boost bypasses.
My 93 had the tightest suspension of all, and it'* basically stock, but new. At least all 4 endlinks for the swaybars, with polyurethane bushings. John'* will be equal when he replaces his endlinks. We found them to be shot badly when it was up on the lift on Sunday.
There'* a huge difference in mileage between the 2 WCBF 2k'* in attendance. Bone-Evil is well over 100,000 miles (even more than Greenzilla), and 2000SilverBullet is at only 17,000. I think Bone-Evil could use an endlink replacement also, especially since he has the plastic spacers.
More to come as I remember it all......

Very interesting...
Drive much Pdad?
Besides the outside body trim and weight, are there much differences between the 97-99 and the 00+? I know the drivetrain is the same, but suspension and other minor differences that could make a performance difference.

From trading cars and looking at launches and 60' times, the 2000+ is heavier (known) than my 93 by about 400 pounds. That weight FEELS like it'* high and to the rear. Weight transfer to the rear is worse than my 93, and sway in turns (body roll) seems to be worse. The battery under the back seat doesn't help any.
I took Pdad'* and the Bullet'* cars out for some high-speed banking and launching to get a feel for it. They both drove mine, too. These are more or less mutual conclusions amongst the 3 of us, with driverjohn backing it up as well. He drove most of the cars as well.

i know 2k+ are usually slower, but that could just be the extra weight. I think the 2k+ have worse weight distribution (batt in back, aluminum hood).

And the Series 1 develops hp and tq peaks lower. That helps as well, but the Series 2 will run after the 60'. I know that from experience, against both cars at the track. (timeslips coming in the next couple days).
John and I both had our asses handed to us by the 2000'*. I'm proud of my 60' and R/T, but not much else......

The 00'* are heavier no dobut. GM decided to help that weight by using aluminum hood, control arm, front bumper, engine cradle, basically everything ti could to lighten the car up. Unfortunately all this mass gone from over the wheels makes it harder to launch especiallly modded (Trust me). The battery in the back seat is a great thing for battery life but again, more weight in the rear. The size of the wheels plays a part in the times as well with the 00 being larger (17).
Did you guys do the ELC trick? This helps with the weight transfer.

I'm also betting a lot of the power fall off you were feeling was the drop in power from the stock vavletrain past 5500 rpm. The PCMS will shift much higher and are designed to use the power from rockers or a cam. Staying in second past 5500 rpm with power falling off was not helping times im sure.
Speaking about the 00'* of course...
