Default Need Catalytic convertor opinions

My '92 ssei needs a new catalytic converter. My first thought is to get a GM replacement converter.

I have been reading a lot about high flow converters. Who makes these, and what are the best brands? I want a good stainless steel unit that will last a long time. Also, are they strictly weld-in types? I know you can get the OEM that just clamps in place.

Will this high flow converter help my performance, or is there a chance I will lose low end torque?

Any ideas will be useful.

Thanks

If you open up your exhaust you'll lose torque easy. 3" pipe is way too much, so if you wanted a hi flow cat, which are generally 3" you'd need reducers. Many people would say get a whole new exhaust if you're doing hi flow. A hi flow cat on it'* own with stock mufflers and pipe should only help. You have a supercharger so you won't have as many problems, you're pushing more air around.

I know magnaflow makes a nice hi flow cat, you could also get a matching magnaflow muffler. Then you'll love it!

I have been looking at a company called "random technology" www.randomtechnology.com, they seem to have some good products. Anyone have any experience with them?
