Default 3.4" MPS finally installed, not without major problems

So I ordered the gen2 puller from ZZP yesterday and much to my delight saw that it was being shipped and should be here today. So i sat on the porch like a kid waiting for christmas to come to no avail. I come back to the computer and according to my tracking info it was delivered to my porch at 12:30. I go back out and look around all over the porch, in the mail box but no puller. Just for laughs i thought to check the neighbors porch and sure enough with my name and address on it is my highly anticipated package from ZZP. So i get to work seeing as i only have 2 hours til i need to leave for my night class. Disconnect the ground cable, move my overflow bottle and maneuver some AC lines out of the way and im set.
The 3.8 pulley pulled off with hardly any trouble. I have never dealt with ZZP before but this puller is great. 99SSEi had tried to help me with his thrasher unit and after using the gen2 zzp puller i would never want to go back to using a horseshoe type puller ever again. I highly recommend it if anyone is looking to buy their own puller.

Soooo... the hub for the MPS went on easy as well with an extra hand from my little brother and i took some pictures...

So i was running low on time and still had to get the AL104'* in and i managed to put my hub ALL THE WAY ON BACKWARDS! I didn't even put it together until i went to put the pulley on the hub. I did a search for MPS AND backwards on here and it looks like no one else has done this before. So i panicked a bit, took the camry to class and then went to Lowes and bought some 6.0x1x30 hex bolts and some washers. Thankfully they held and it didn't damage my hub and i was able to pull the pulley then flip the hub and reinstall.

Let it warm up and idle for awhile while i rearranged the driveway to get out of the garage and then me and the little bro went for a bit of a test run. after a leisurely cruise to the country i got on it a bit and wow, the difference the pulley makes is amazing. KR is still ok i think, i only floored it once and in 60* night air on 93 BP gas i was seeing a max of 4.2^ of KR. I know im probably going to get a 3.5" to run in the summer. Does the PCM have to "learn" a pulley the way it does other mods? should the amount of KR i see go down or is this mid 4'* spike going to be the norm atleast for that air temp?

Boosty and I did the backwards hub thing by accident on my car, but we caught it before it was all the way on.

I would not be happy with 4* KR. I'd keep my foot off of it until you could locate the source.

Heavy discussion on it would be more appropriate for the mechanical section though.

that'* true, if a moderator could move it to performance and brainstorming that would be great.

I've been gentle on it since then too just to be sure. im probably going to get a 3.5 ordered today just to be safe and will probably put the 3.4 on again once i get the highflow cat on.

wow.. I would have been VERY frustrated if I would have done that. probs to you for "getting er done"

4* KR does not seem normal with your amount of mods :?

It'* really frustrating because until i put this pulley on i hadn't seen a single fraction of KR since i put the PEM'* on back in January i think it was. So all summer driving hard in 90* plus temps and 0.0 KR constantly whether i be at WOT, down shift, etc. nothing changed it. The plugs are at .055, would .050 reduce KR potentially? I'm probably going to spike my 93 octane with some 100 and bring the octane up to about 94.8 according to my averaging until my 3.5" comes tomorrow hopefully.

Vacuum leak? I'm hearing a whistle now that is way to high pitched to be charger whine, even with a new belt and pulley i don't think it should be so noisy. I'm thinking the T under the snout perhaps, just as a safeguard is there any kits that i can just replace all my vacuum lines around the engine? can a vacuum leak cause KR? Also my gas mileage has taken a nosedive as well.

FWIW - I installed my hub on backwards as well. (BTW - Did you get the MPS hub removal plate when you ordered the puller?)

Anyway, as for the KR are you are getting, you are probably running lean once getting into boost. With the smaller pulley you will be getting into boost quicker at a lower throttle position with more PSI overall. If you have a stock PCM, you need to get that updated to compensate with additional fuel.

In the meantime, once you get your 3.5 installed. Reset your PCM again by disconnecting the battery cable. Drive around for a couple days with some mixed driving to let the fuel trims learn (keep out of WOT if you can). Send me a PM or give me a call next week (I'll be out of town this weekend) and I'll see if I can help you with capturing some scans.

I also have an AFC that we can temporarily hook up to your MAF to increase fuel until you can get your PCM updated.

As for your plugs..I would keep them at .55.

Hit me up on WCP.

No removal plate just attached the pulley to the backwards hub with longer bolts and very gently pulled it back off. Thanks, ill be sure to get in contact with you next week then. In addition to possible fueling issues my vacuum T under the snout is completely shot, cracked halfway around it, so im about to go swap that out right now and go to work and see if that makes any difference.
