Default Considering Rockers In The Future

I'm considering getting rockers for Big Bertha in the future and I wanted to have some reference materials to refer to. I know many had posted info about those but I'm unsure because some say one thing and some say another, I thought it would be good for the admins to take this thread and convert it into an article for TECHINFO.

I have a L36. I don't want to go maniac on the motor, just some hp increases, subtle but increased.

I cannot find a definite answer or one that I actually understand. What benefits do rockers bring?

I'm assuming if I don't want to mod the hell out of my car, 1.80'* will suffice.

Am I correct?

i would do INTENSE 1.9'*....some ppl choose to do modified stock rockers, but id not have the stock modified ones....rockers will give u a gain but you will not benefit with out the PCM raising the shifts....since that is what the rockers will let you do....you can also choose to do springs (stock will be fine with the RPM range you will be in) and you could also do OR pushrods

with the rockers you will need a good intake (CAI/FWI) and a good flowing exhaust, you can keep the stock muffler, and a stock cat will work but its recommended to get a hoigh flow cat, to help out the increase in air in and out

1.8'* would give you about 10hp at the wheel. 1.9'* would give you about 15. 1.9'* would require stronger springs, 1.8'* can be used with stock. Both ratios would benefit from higher shift points.

Just out of curiosity, with my L27 [& the mods that I've got], do ya think I'd be better off getting a set of PEMs or a set of 1.8 rockers?...In other words, which would give me more bang for the buck?....I know that doing both would be ideal, but if I had to choose, which should I do first?...

Rockers for sure. I don't think your pushing enough air without them to need PEMs.

little clarification here....the Series One Does NOT have PEM'* or 1.8 rockers....

www.seriesoneperfromance.com

look around there

Series I flow better than the Series II stock for stock

and you can get the YT 1.72 rockers from Dr.Jay

I WILL do a before and after video. Thats before the PCM. I think even w/ out the PCM it will make a noticable difference. dbtk2 is VERY knowlageable in the ser2 L67 world. You may not have a L67 but you still have a Ser 2. I just want you to spend the least possible for the biggest gain possible.

That'* odd....I was under the impression that it was possible to get a PEM for a Series 1:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...highlight=pems

and besides, I honestly don't know what ratio the stock rockers are in my '93 L27 , so I couldn't even begin to decide what my rocker options might be :?...

PEM'* arent really necessary, since we dont flow as much on the top end.....we make our power lower and dont have to worry about the higher RPM flow....PEM'* will help a little espeically for the L67 guys

and IIRC the L27 has 1.6 rockers..

IMO 1.8 would be best.
The 1.9s move the power band up too much and it'* hard to get there with a 3.05 FDR and a heaver car than the gp'*.
