I have not seen this insert until just now. Reading a couple of their test articles for their products has me a bit baffled.

http://www.zzperformance.com/miscftp...Discussion.doc
http://easyperformance.com/Tech_Info...t_Content.html

The first one tells about the power increase gain by using their ER high ratio rockers (as well as u-bend delete and 180ºF thermostat for the test car). They boast some pretty decent numbers:
Peak 183.3 @ 5700 RPM, 184.4 ft.lb@ 4750 RPM
High RPM~183 @ 5800 RPM, ~166 ft.lb@ 5800 RPM

But in the second article, the test car has "ZZP ER High Ratio Rockers, ZZP Stage 1 HV Throttle Body, an EPP Cold Air Induction, U-Bend removed from exhaust system, a 2 1/4" off-road downpipe and a 180ºF Thermostat" and yet it shows:

Peak Horsepower
180.7 @ 5100 RPM, 193.3 ft.lb@ 4700 RPM OEM intake manifold setup.
189.8 @ 5300 RPM, 195.3 ft.lb@ 4900 RPM ZZP Intake Manifold Insert installed.
High RPM HP
~135 @ 5800 RPM, ~125 ft.lb@ 5800 RPM OEM intake manifold setup.
~165 @ 5800 RPM, ~150 ft.lb@ 5800 RPM ZZP Intake Manifold Insert installed.

With all the mods listed, the OEM manifold #* (high RPM especially) sure went down from the previous test of their rockers. Unless I'm missing something, their tests don't seem to jive. I'd like to hear some more about their HV3 insert to know if it adds power or if their test are just b.*.

Get the rockers. If you get them, get a hold of me and we can install them. I know you will like them alot. Makes the car so much stronger up top.

The HV insert gives up something to gain something. And the fact that very few are buying it should say something.

Get the rockers. You'll gain across the board without sacrificing either low or high end.

Good catch.

If you compare the charts for the "ER rockers" (from the first article) and the "Stock UIM plus ER'* plus etc." (from the second article), the hp and torque curves are quite similar up to about 5000 rpm, but the second chart falls off like crazy above this rpm compared to the first.

Even the "HV insert plus ER'* plus etc." chart (from the second article) falls off dramatically above 5000 rpm compared to the "ER Rockers" chart.

The temperature can't be the issue, because the second set of tests was done at 56-63 F, while the first set was done at 77-80 F...if anything this greatly favors the second set of tests. Both sets of tests claim to have been done on 93 octane fuel.

Assuming we can rule out operator error, unspecified other differences between the test car(*), or subterfuge on the part of the vendor ( ), this leads us to only one conclusion: one (or more) of the "additional mods" (exclusive of the HV insert) in the second set of tests, whether due to poor part design/selection and/or poor tuning, is killing off power above 5000 rpm.

As has already been stated, these "additional mods" are: ZZP Stage 1 HV Throttle Body, EPP Cold Air Induction, 2 1/4" off-road (presumably, this means "no cat") downpipe.

So, perhaps the question becomes, which "additional mod(*)" is the culprit(*), and why?

Or are there other inconsistencies that aren't mentioned. I've noticed some contraditions on the site in the past. Not saying this is occuring here since there is data. I would search clubGP and other places for actual customer satisfaction and HP numbers with the product.

From the people i have talked to (clubgp and regalgs forums), the general conscieces is that there is a nice gain from 4000- to shift. Everyone noticed a very nice gain up top and min. losses on the low end. As for dynos and what not there isnt much info in black and white because not many have dyno just the HV3. But the few who have, got around a 8-10 whp gain over a nice portion of the powerband. What i have noticed is that on a stock dyno graph the power drops off at around 5000 quite a bit but with the HV3 AND ER rockers the power does not fall off. I will try to find some graphs but i dunno what is out there for cars with min mods.

.if you need more mod you can't clame 30 hp for the HV3 alone .And we are a few
on the BC whit L36 here that whant more power just be the LIM porting interest that the subject got .I was just thinking if you change for the HV3 whitout LIM porting would that be a more of a restriction .to try to push more air into those stock port

Absolutely right. There would be no point in going with the HV3 without first port-matching that horrible LIM to the heads.

That would be the same as buying an expense accessory belt for better grip, and installing it offset, so only 4 of the 6 ribs were in contact with the pulleys.
