Default Wheel wells

I was looking at my wheel wells today and I got an Idea. Why not just cut sheet metal out and lower the arches of all the wheel wells? This would give the overall lowered look without paying a bunch for a kit or cutting the springs and getting a harsh ride. I'm not talking about those inserts for caddys and other cars in the rear. I mean having the fender still arching and coming down a little over the tire but enough so that when you prop it off you can still take the wheel off. The front would be the hardest since it'* plastic but i'm sure there is some way to get around that. In the summer i'm getting a paint job and was trying to think of something i could do body wise before i do. So, I'll probably end up looking into this. Let me know what you think???
