Differences between Mechanical Shift Kit and Electronic Kit?
After I increased the shift pressure and increased the shift time on my PCM, it shifts just as firm as my 98 SSEi did with a shift kit...Is there even a real reason for a shift kit if I can raise the pressure (and reduce wear on the clutches by decreasing the shift times) electronically vs with a mechanical shift kit?
Here is sorta what my numbers look like. This is just one of the tables, for the 1-2 shift and the 2-3, The shift time was cut in half depending on what the throttle position/ft-lb of torque is.
Stil worth it for a shift kit or no?
i kind of like the abilty to have my low throttle shifts soft (nearly stock) where the WOT are very firm..

One question do the 00+ have performance shift ? I forgot if they did. If not you can add one and program the aggressive shift adjustments in Performance mode and leave stock shifts in regular mode.

Regardless, I'm not going to add a performance shift button.
I'm thinking right now I might do a shift kit but leave it on the "weakest" setting then fine tune everything else.

There is no need for a perf shift button in the car. You just copy the performance table into the normal table and adjust it. It just shifts a little firmer all the time instead of only when a button is pushed but most people like it that way anyway. At light throttle I don't even notice a difference over stock, but at WOT you get a nice kick. I highly recommend the shift kit in addition to the changes in the PCM table. Your tranny is still functioning at full actuator and if you start shifting faster than the lines fill with fluid you are going to fry or break tranny components. What the shift kit does is block the function of the actuators in the tranny. If you go full stage 3 they are now blocked open which will cause the shifts to be much firmer and also quicker than you could ever get with electronics alone, plus it puts a whole lot less wear on the tranny overall, although the hard parts take a little more stress. You will see a noticeable difference with the shift kit installed along with the PCM.
