So I put nitrous on my '93 SSEI....
Yes it has been done, and quite successfully I might add. BUT...I'm not sure what the effect on other mods I'm looking at doing will be. Hector this is more for you but anyone who has a suggesstion is free to post. So I have a dry shot system running at 55hp and it works good, a few bugs but nothing major at all. The thing I'm wondering about is will getting the Jet performance chip, which advances the timing, be detrimental to performance since going any higher with the nitrous requires me to retard the timing? Hmm...Also how about running a smaller pulley for my supercharger. Better yet a combination of the two. I could see possibly if I'm running race fuel this may work but who knows. Is it possible to get the chip without having them advance the timing? That may work but we still run into running higher boost from the pulley with nitrous. I talked with Doc last night on the phone for quite awhile. Some of the things we were trying to figure out are the other benefits of the chip. If the chip were installed, would the other benefits of it outweigh the possible required reduction in shots? That'* a big one for me, but I'm way out of my league right now.

Not sure what my 1/4 times are, right after I got the nos the local track closed for the winter. As soon as it opens or I get my hands on a gtec I'll post them. And yea I'm running the 160deg, I was a little worried about running lean and I'd rather burn an o2 or a cat than the whole damn engine. I'm considering going up to 180 but for now its working ok.

Hmmm..... The computer would retard the timing once the knock sensors go off. 55 dry shot... Not the safest but if it works for you go for it. But adding a chip, smaller pulley and dry nitrous shot, not good combinations. For the chip, the stock computer will just retard the timing if it senses knock but then it has to relearn and work it'* way back up when you stop using the nitrous. It will be kinda back and forth. Running a smaller pulley as well..... Honestly I believe it could work, but it'* at your own risk. Let me say this again. DISCLAIMER: AT YOUR OWN RISK. Alright I am not liable now. hmm...so if you had to pick one that would probably work best with nitrous (I'd like to keep it) which would it be? I'd rather have the pulley unless it'll cause more problems than the chip. Thanks for the help so far

OK quick little brain storm. I stated that sometimes the nitrous kicks hard and sometimes it doesn't. Well I did a little more experimenting, this time hitting the nitro when the engine was cold. I've been hesitant to try it below 150deg for obvious reasons but last night I felt the need to try at least once so I know what I'm dealing with. So I let it warm up to about 120-125deg and hit the nitrous...wow. It took off like its never done before, snapped my head back. Not shabby at all for 55hp but all the same probably 4x the usual kick. I tried it once more and the same thing, if not faster. Then I let it warm up to 160, where I keep it, and it was back to quasi fast. This brings up questions. For a while now I had assumed that my timing was at fault for the lack of power, too far advanced. But doesn't the colder engine advance the timing further? The only other thing I know that happens when the engine is that cold is the extra fuel. Could that be the source of my problems, running a little lean or not rich enough? I know my car is usually running rich, hell I keep it at 160deg and the plugs get soot on them after a while (I don't mind maintenance). So I've kinda ruled that out. So that leaves me with timing...there is something I'm not getting here. Anyway I've been up 25hours so I can't think anymore, any ideas...

HMmmmmmmmmmmmm DrJay can you find a good high performance shop in the area.or phone up the Vex tech line .i used the Vemon techline so much they know me so well i`ve tried my NOS cold engine and warm ............................same feeling Is your switch that activates your system a micro-button ,or micro-switch on full throttle..mines a full throttle switch

Mine is connected to the throttle position sensor, at full throttle the juice is flowing. So you got the same thing? I know when I floor it when its cold its faster anyway (without nitrous) but the difference is astounding with nitrous. I'll call zex and see what they have to say.
