They are different part numbers. My gut tells me no. My common sense asks me 'why?'.

The guy did say his S2 crank has been weight reduced, I guess that's why he wants to reuse it.

Smart money says he's headed for a heartbreak, but let's keep an eye on this and maybe we'll all learn something.

He won't be posting about it over here. He was removed from our membership last week.

my questions too... I wanted to know after I saw a lineup of several different years of 3800 crankshafts in Engine Builder March 2008. While a very poor way to judge, the photors appeared to have all of the journals lining up, though dimensions are still unknown since they aren't mentioned in the article.

i didnt see anywhere where he said that his series 2 crank had the weight reduced. I made the comment about weighing the stock series 1 and weighing the stock series 2 to see how much lighter it is. Since that seems to be everyones explanation for why the series 2 engines have a higher redline.

The counterweights on the S2 crank are closer to the center, and smaller. That could possibly attribute to the higher redline. Less power wasted on centrifugal energy. Less stress on the material.

He said that it was knife edged. That removes a significant amount of weight from the counter weights. Hopefully the assembly will be balanced agian.
