I was wondering if you guys that take your bonnies to the drag strip have checked to see if there was a different belt that could be used ? Not wasting power turning a unused AC compressor or even power stearing pump. Just for at the track to get every horse you can.
Just thought!

I'm not one to get down to the technicals of how a car works, but I can tell you I wouldn't be doing that even if I could. For one to change the belts on an SSEi (96-99 at least) you have to jack the car up, remove a spacer in the engine mount, then lower the car, followed by removing the belt, and finally reverse the whole process. Secondly I want power steering so I can move off the track as quickly as possible and to line up correctly. Also I don't know how that would affect magnasteer. Finally I have no idea how the belt could be wrapped by not going around the power steering or AC compressor....doesn't seem logical at first thought.

If you want to get every last horsepower you can out of the pulley system, so what I did and get an underdrive WP pulley. Or take it a step further with a underdrive alternator pulley as well, but that requires a larger belt if you install both.

On some engines routing around A/C is possible, and correct belts have been found. But if you're not running the A/C the clutch is released, and the pulley is freewheeling anyways.

that solves the problem.

If you are really worried, get some lightweight pulleys
