Cam for Series 2 (Non */C)
Has anyone installed an aftermarket Cam in there Series 2? Is there a 'streetable' Cam worth about 40HP on a non */C application?
I think some guys here have done this. Any tips?
Thx- TJ

IMO the GT series cams (ZZP) are the best out there by far for a few reasons.
First there are MANY people running them with MANY sucess stories and results. In other words, they are proven over and over.
Thier power curves are very broad and not as 'peaky' as other cams.
And you do not need to change your torque converter for thier GT1 cam to see good results. And if you decide to go all out with the GT1, you can make over 230 whp with it.

There generally around $300 but need a good amount of loot to install, especially if you get some supporting mods. (pems, hvii, some kind of tuning medium)

Yeah. Thats why I never have any $.
Give me a day or 2 and I'll find where I bought all the install stuff and the cost. It was the cheapest I could find.

Great! That would be good info to have in this thread.
Plus, I can have it for a someday wish list myself. Everybody has to have a wish list...

Ok. It may actually be cheaper to buy the cam install kits that both intense and zzp offer.
But,
The cheapest prices I found were at www.autopartsgiant.com
And they were:
Valve cover gaskets: 12.23
Timing cover gasket: 15.80
Timing chain: 32.97
Tensioner: 15.53
Lower intake manifold gaskets: $35.16(for version 1) $40.57(for version 2) but you may want to get the newest design of LIM gaskets from gmpartsdirect.com
This site use to have rocker arm bolts but stopped selling them.
You need those along with crank and cam bolts.
Some things that are a good idea to pick up are:
The torque bolts that hold the cam cover on since they are very easy to strip.
The plastic coolant elbo that goes from the LIM to tensioner assembly.
and
New or low mile lifters if they are making noise.
