Air Intake question
Is a Cold Air intake or Fender well intake (bought or custom made) worth more power over gutting the stock box? Should I save my money and just gut the stock air box or are any of the other alternatives worth more power? If I did gut the air box, I would run a pipe into the fenderwell to grab colder air from there.
thanks

FWI best.. CAI.. still better then gutting the airbox.. guttin the airbox is cheaper.. ( free mod ) that will increase some.. but the problem is the accordian tubing that goes from airbox to TB that causes a lot of turbulance and slows down airflow. ( you can also remove the MAF screen with a CAI or FWI for sure.. Most have success with removing it also with a gutted intake.. but some had bad idleing issue cause of the turbulant air reaching the MAF sensor.

what if I replaced the acordian tube with a piece of pipe or pvc and cut a hole from the air box to run a pipe into the fenderwell to suck in cold air from there? basically the box would be used to hold the filter and pcm.

Thunder.. that would work too if you replace the accordian tube, and put on a good air filter ( K&N ). On certain years.. the charcoal canister is basically right underneath it.. if you find a place to relocate that too.. seal up the front airbox hole and punch a whole straight down ( design a lil scoop to even further help draw more air in ) That would work also. I"ve been thinkin of similar designs like that and cuttin the accordian tube in half so I can wrap it around the tubing for 2 purposes ( acts as a half A$$ heat shield and 2ndly the cops won't bother me as it appears stock.. we have issues with cops giving tickets for modified cars including CAI up here )

I have a regal and the air box sucks air from behind the headlight. What'* the different from air coming from behind the headlight to air from inside the fender? Each is sealed from the engine compartment...

Well.. the theory is that behind the headlight.. it'* still gettin some minute heat from headlights and a wee bid of heat from the rad cause it'* open.. whereas in the fenderwell.. it'* pretty much isolated and the only air that gets there are coolest air from the ground up ( not counting how hot pavement gets )
