Rear Disc Brakes?

'Lo! I have a '99 SLE and HATE the drums on the rear wheels. Could I pull the discs off a SSEi of the same year and plop em' on there? I'd love to have 4-wheel disc brakes =)

Not that simple. Go to Vendor's Forum and read the latest from DP.

Yeah, I hate drums too.
Whats the difference?

Bonnevilles didn't get rear disc brakes until 2000 when they became standard even on the SE. Kinnda sucks for a large car with a powerful torquey engine to be stuck with rear drums.

I dunno. It's alright I guess. The car stops fine for me.

I got no complaints with the rear drums. They only do 20%-25% of the work anyway.

Cheaper to fix as well, disc rotors get expensive for all 4 wheels.

 not as easy swap can be done for the right amount of time and $ looked into this closely.but not worth the effort in my thinking,,,,drums are fine 8)

ok ..4 wheel discs.. dont beleive the hype  I have them on my 1990 toro(basically a 1990 2 door bonne w/3800) and I put 4 new discs and all new pads on using the correct tools and all of that good stuff and on the ice when I look them up the rear end goes out to the right and on dry pavment it takes what seems and eternity to stop. now i dont have ABS due to it beeing a 1990 and that was an option but i thought it would be better...and yes I have good tires.... it seems that my big late 70's RWD 2dr GM handles better than my small 1990 "e" series GM. whats that all about. there is this tight off ramp on the expressway near me and I can take it at 70 in my BigCar and 45 is shaky in the little gm......ehh.....

What kind of rotors/Pads are you using and what condition is the rest of the brake system?

I believe drums are fine in the rear but there are alot of people who take there Bonneville well past what it was designed for and they want the rest of there car to follow. I posted a bunch of info on Bonneville attitude and will also post here but I have to go so if you cant wait there is some more info on that site about prices and so on.
