Default Intercoolers

Why is Thrashers intercooler so much more expensive than ZZP'* ?

Is Thrasher still a player ? I never hear anyone mention them for products.

There are several vendors of intercoolers and prices of some older models are starting to come down. Thrasher has a nice intercooler but I wonder if its worth the price? And I think their seen more as a builder of parts than a supply vendor?

I'd agree. On A side note, My local IL grand prix club has there own Intercooler, they hook up a small AC Core to it and call it there AC-intercooler. Looks pretty good and good idea too, why run hot coolant threw the IC. Some run Ice boxes, that'* ok but Ice melts and with out it I wonder how good the IC is doing when there'* no Ice, say like during daily driving. Theiy have 4-5 cars with this system and these guys are serious, all in 11'*-12'*. Lots of fast GP'* in my area. They sell this kit for $1100 I think, the guy even installs it for $150 I believe, not a bad price.

All of the aftermarket intercoolers available for the GTP/SSEi/GS'* have a different radiator for the coolant to run through, unlike the factory intercoolers on lightnings and such where it uses the engine coolant to cool the intercooler. The "cool cans" (ice boxes) work really well at the track for running small pullies but don't do you much good on the street because you would have to stop every mile and dump more ice in. I am pretty sure I have seen one of these systems before, and they seem to be pretty nice, and very comparable to the ZZP system. But I know if I were looking for an intercooler right now, I would wait a month or two for ZZP to come out with their budget intercooler that is supposed to run around $500. Obviously it isn't going to cool as well as their current one, but it will be WAY better than nothing, and it is a lot cheaper than any other option currently available. But if you are interested in an intercooler, definately shop around, there are a few intercoolers that were just released in the past few months, and they all seem decent to me. Personally I would recommend the ZZP system just because it has been proven and I know that it works well, but the other systems are probably just as good also, they just haven't had time to prove themselves yet.

Well realistly I think I'll get an IC next year, that'* when I decide what to get, Might get a ZZP stage 3 problem by then or I'm seriousluy considering my local AC intercooler. Don't know that much about them, I knew that you have an extra radiator, guessing that you run coolant threw it. Curious how hot that gets, you ever test the GTP IC temps?

This year I need to much other stuff, like TOGs, rockers, custom DHP, stg 2 TB, and maybe even stage 4 blower. Also waiting for the new intense 2nd gen LSD to come out. After all that, Think I'll be happy a while and want to just drive the car for a while. Knowing that my tranny will go sometime, when it starts slipping I'll get a HD rebuild I think, maybe by Mike Dye, after the beefed tranny then I'll get more serious, and IC will come, maybe get a cam too then. After those mods, going to need a winter beater.
