Can anyone provide information on the best way to go about a L67 swap into a 2001 Bonneville SE?

But seriously. Find a donor car with a fairly unabused engine in it. Yank it out, along with the tranny, PCM, and any wires that go with it. It would probably be best just drop the whole subframe out and shove it all into the Bonny(assuming it comes from a bonny).

So its just that simple? Find a donor car/engine, and put it in my bonne? (no scarcasm intended)

It was that simple for me when I had to put a new engine in my Beretta about 5 years ago. All we did was find another B with the engine we wanted. We put both cars on lifts, and swapped the front assembly including PCM and all wires that were needed. So, if you can find maybe a totaled out SSEi (rear end damage) I would think you could do the same thing.

If you are doing the engine only.

You need
Engine (complete)
Wiring adapters/additions for L36 to L67 (Intense/ZZP)
Reprogrammed PCM.

then you'll be considering upgradeing the trans.

That'* why I said drop the whole sub-frame. That way he'll get the engine, tranny, PCM and all the wires he needs.

Except it won't work properly, Won't have the right stuff needed, will do have to do double the work.

If you wanna be the one to suggest he does double the work and finds things out the hard way, have at it. I've already been there, learned the hard way. It was painful.

He can get an engine relatively cheap. Swap all his accessories (ps pump/ac/alternator) to the new engine. Drop it in add a $20 wiring harness that he gets with his $100 reprogrammed pcm (Intense is my suggestion, they have the info/history to do this easily) then it will work.

On the trans, why pull out a good trans? The differences from regular to HD are pretty small. If he does the HD upgrade, that would give him 3.29 gearing and he'* have the SC motor and most desired gear ratio. I can buy HD upgrades at my JY for $50-$100. I'd suggest that anyone looking to do a swap like this does a lot of research and learns all the various options/cost saving ways before jumping in. I'm all about saving money because I'm a cheap guy, and saving money means more for mods later.
