Question Question on replacing head lights with aftermarket high watt bulbs help please!

Hi, I'm new here and own a 2000 bonneville. I am buying a cold air intake off ebay, along with some 5900k high and low beam hipro power bulbs. Now its a 9005/9006 kit with both sets. Sounds simple right? Well I was doing some more searching and there is a harness that matrix recommends you just unplug and plug a new harness in the back of the bulb and into the factory harness. Now I also see a harness with a relay, but some say for hid and some say for high wattage bulbs. Now my question is, are these really necessary?

I had a 1989 berreta and i had the 100w matrix bulbs in there for the highs and had a problem with the head light relay tripping and losing my lights while driving! NOT FUN! So what do you guys and gals thing?
Thanks
Craig

Throwing higher wattage bulbs in there is gonna blow fuses and possibly melt the housing, I wouldn't reccomend it

as for the harness, I only have expierence with HID ones

Its just that the low beams really really really suck! The fog lights really don't seems to do much either. I figured upgrading them all would be cheap and effective. How much would hid conversion run for low and high beam both? I'm kinda really limited on funds. So I'm looking to be cheaper but also reliable.
thanks crunk

If your low beams suck are the housing'* yellowed? that makes a huge difference. Also try angling your headlights up, park against a wall and just make sure you turn the screws evenly, dont go to high, its best to do it at night, and even park your car in a flat parking lot and walk 50ft. away. thats basically what I did very happy with the results, but I'll be putting in a set of 4300k or 6k H.I.D.'* in just my Low'*.... on 00+ bonnevilles the low beam does not turn off when the brights are engaged so the H.I.D.* stay on while the regular high beam bulbs come on. so there will be two types of light spectrum

a decent H.I.D. setup is $100 pair for each type of bulb.(9005/9006/9007etc)

Yea I already aimed my lights and have them higher than they were and its a hair better. I see them on ebay for around 50.00 for the 9005 and 50.00 for the 9006. My question is, where the heck do you mount all the ballasts at? Any pics guys? I'm thinking of maybe getting the higher watt bulbs and getting the extra harness with a relay, kinda the same as hid, but i know hid are way better. I guess some pro'* and con'* are needed for a good decision basis here. The lenses are clear and are pretty good and like new yet.
thanks

ok here is a link to a ebay kit, they want like 12.99 for the entire hid conversion, but i did a make a offer and said i would pay 13.50 for the 9005 and 9006 kits but they want 29.95 expidited sipping, so i said well as long as i can get it combined for the same shipping price as on one unit but for both. Good deal?

Not sure on the brand. Now looking at the link you gave me its asking for a 35 watt or a 55 watt +10.00. Now can i get the 9005 in a 55watt and the 9006 in a 55 watt? How does that work?

The brand is xentec. here is copy and pasted what they said.
You are bidding on a set of brand new HID conversion kit. This Kit is mannufacturered under strict quality control and the factory is ISO-9001 certified. The ballast and the burner in this kit have passed the most stringest OEM specific test by Toyota (Denso) of Japan, and they uses these ballast for the OE market in the Southern Americas region and some of the southern Asia countries.

* 100% water proof construction, you can submerge the entire kit under water and it will function correctly
* Integrated one piece Ballast, simplified wiring which eliminates any unnecessary confusion during install.
* More than 16+ bulb types, we will have the right bulb type for your vehicle
* 0.3% failure rate, compared to 5-10% failure rate of other HID Conversion kits currently out on the market, the reliability is comparable to that of OEM HIDs
* Color temperature output has tolerance of +/- 100K, the tolerance is unnoticeable by human eyes
* Superior lumen output compare to its competitor
* Best quality burners from Bosch Japan
* Choose from 5 different color temperature, you will indefinitely find the color out put of your choices

We have the following bulb type avaliable (Please dont forget to specify your bulb size and color temperature (K)when you make the payment)

H1, H3, H4(low), 9003(low) ,HB2(low) , H6(low), H6m(low), H7, H8, H9, H10, 9145, H11, H13(low), 9008 (Low), 880/881 (All 800 series), 9004(low), HB1(Low), 9005, HB3, 9006, HB4, 9007(low), HB5 (Low), D2S, D2R

Pleasse note: when installing the kit with the (Low) beam only, you will loose your high beam , however, the adjustment in the capsule will compensate for the lost of the high beam, and it will be alot brighter than your halogen high beam and yet not blinding.

3000K Golden Yellow

3000K has an approximately 3200lm output, which is more than 3x the light output of the traditional halogen light. 3000K emits GOLDEN YELLOW color and offers superior penetration power during adverse weather epically in dense fog. The applications of the 3000K kit aim more towards secondary lighting apparatus such as high beam and fog lights. The 3000K capsule is actually a 5000K capsule specially coated with a film that filters out all the wave length except the range of wave length which emits yellow. This is the color temperature that will catch all the attention on the road.

5000K Pure White

5000K has an approximately 3200lm output, which is more than 3x the light output of the traditional halogen light and is the color temperature with the most output. The light appears fairly white, and has light yellowish hue when reflected off the road identical to the OEM HID equipped vehicles. This color is for customers who is looking for pure performance white improving the looks of their headlight. It is idea for customers who does alot of back road or canyon driving and need the optimal visibility. This is the color temperature that give you the most light for your bucks

6000K Diamond White

6000K has an approximately 2800lm output, which is 3x the light output of the traditional halogen light and slightly less light output compared to the 5000K. Although it has a bit lesser light output, it emits pure whiter light with very slight and barely noticeable tint of blue and purple

8000K Iceberg Blue

8000K has an approximately 2550lm output, which is about 3x the light output of the traditional halogen light and slightly less light output compared to the 6000K. While it has a bit lesser light output, it emits bluer light than the 6000K
