5 speed bonniville?
ok so i have a 1995 bonneville SSEI and i was wondering if any one has tryed to put in a 5 speed. I know that you can get a getrag muncie 5 speed from a cavalier and it has the same bolt pattern as the 3800 but i was wondering would it mess anything up in the computer or would it even fit. I think my trans is going but not sure it clunks in gear hard. the guy who had it before me said it was a module inside the trans the car was free so i really didnt care.

unless you have a HUGE budget and can Weld and fabricate like a pro...dont even think about it
for the price you can get a HD rebuild for 1/3 of the cost of the 5 speed

a cavi has been adapted to take the 3800 with the 5-speed, a custom flywheel would have to be used, aswell as probably an upgraded clutch to handle the added torque. Alot of custom work will have to be done, but its not an unreasonable proposition
just keep in mind - the only bolt-in part of the project will be the bellhousing, anything else will have to be fabricated, and PCM custom burned
