Default Octane Booster (home made)

I read on http://www.easyperformance.com/Octan...d_Frameset.htm that you can use toluene to boost octane. Apparently 3 gallons of 91 octane unleaded with 2 gallons of Toluene (ratio) will give 5 gallons of 100 octane gas.

What do you have to do when mixing Toluene with gas? Do you need to add any engine lubricants just to be safe, and to prevent injector clogging / corrosion?

Anyone have experience with mixing Toluene with their gas?

I'm willing to do it for the safer compression and less chance of detonation. Very less chance lol.

Where would i find that crap? Its like a paint thinner or something isn't it? Isn't that what gas turns into (varsol) when its bad and ready to clog injectors??? I confused myself now... HELP

There are a few of us that have used Toluene this summer. You can get it a paint suppy store (Willwren uses Sherwin Williams I think) I used general paint.

The Toluene does no harm to the injectors when used properly. I think that 3 to 2 is a bit much and you may dry out some fuel pump seals or fuel sender if things get too carried away?

Try adding a few gallons on your next fill up, much beeter throttle responce and no knocking even in hot weather.

I've run about 10 gallons of toluene so far and the O2 sensor is fine.

Will and I have both used it. (same supplier)
Toluene is a normal component of gasoline.
Do not go over 20% or you may start having problems getting it to burn.

Well in large quantities, like filling up ur tank with 89 octane and adding toluene would be cheaper than filling it with 92 or 93 and you will probably get about 94 octane or so from the toluen.

Im going to try i think but im going to wait for more insight from previous users of it.

Is it okay to use it daily as a long term additive??

Also, is it better to mix it in a gas can? or to just pour it directly into an almost full tank of gas?

i think that you car pour it in the tank straight, but the stuff eats paint so be careful
