plugs
 

Hey... i've been hearin/seeing a few different things as far as plugs go... and i was just wanted to get some direct feed back... a mechanic that worked on my car recently told me bosche werent for gm's.... that they'd make the car fowle out after being used for a while, but they've seemed to work great ( platnum +2)... and i was wondering if anyone has taken the time to compare the few differnt kinds,
Also.. if the platum +4s are safe for our engine... cuz i've also heard they spark to hott?

I'll second the Bosch, only some have had good results, most haven't.

AC Delco is the bes way to go, NGK Iridiums are quite good too. Anything platinum tipped is the way to go.

I was AC Delco, and nothing but great results. Let see what everyone else says :wink:

Let me tell you what Bosch plugs did in my two 3800's! In the 87 3.8L (C) engine they were great! In my 92 3800 NA EGRless Series I, well they only last two years & were 0.035" worn too! I now run AC Delco Platinums in my car! :wink:
BTW! NGK makes the AC Delco plugs for GM! 8)

I'm liking the NGK TR6 plugs but they're designed for supercharged/nitrous apps

I finally changed my plugs again, I did'nt like the AC-Delco Irdiums I couldn't get them to gap right 4 out of 6 of them where a little over .060 but I already wasted my money and put them in. So finally I went on Grand Prix store and got NGK's V-power plugs they came gaped at .060 already and yes I checked them before putting them on. When I had the AC-Delco's off I was just messing around and broke the Iridium, that's why when I first had them I didn't want to force them too much and break them. Bottom line NGK's are great.

I'm goin with ac delco platinum plugs. ngk v power plugs arent bad. I ran my 88accord to the death with a set of ngk v powers!(it was pretty shitty car) I wouldnt get bosch plugs because they burn way too hott and so do the denso iridiums. just get good ol plain jane plugs man. they will work until you are running like 12's in your bonnie! 8) I'd pay to go see someone run 12's in their bonneville :twisted:

Geeze im running Bosche platimums and bosche plug wires that i just changed today, the diffrence in running is like night and day,
my previous car the 1986 Park Avenue had Bosche it for about 30,000 kms no prob

You know I bet if you were to do a poll of people that had used the Bosch Platinums you would find that they work ok in the 87-91 but not so good in the 92 and up cars.

Thats what it seems to look like from what I have been reading.

My 89 seems to like the Bosch +4's. It is hesiatating a little bit now but I think that is a combination of bad Idle Air Control Valve and/or crappy plug wires.

I also that Delco is the way to go, I put bosche plugs into the Ol 93 Bonne and I had a mixed reaction. I thought they were just as good as my Ac Delco plugs , ran the same and it seemed fine for about a year when I pulled the plugs out and they had been totaly used up I was very disappointed. Anyways since then I havent had to change plugs from my Delco for about 2.5 years and they have alot of life left. I think you would be happy with the cheaper Delco Platnium Plugs.

That is SOOOOOO true! I use to run Bosch in my 87 LeSabre & they ran & lasted great. So when I got my 92 SE, I tried them again, but was later very disapointed when the Bosch didn't even last ONE YEAR in my Bonneville, when I use to get 6-7 years out of the same plugs in my Buick. :roll:
