Plastic engine cover.
I was wondering if I was to fabricate an aluminum engine cover how would this effect my car if it does.

its is not as prevalent with the n/a engines but with the cover off it does keep the underhood temps down quite a bit on the S/C cars. I would say that you should try and mesh yours, i will be doing mine soon

I was going to mesh mine (in fact it is half dremmeled) but then just decided to leave it off. Keeps it cooler, and easier to get to the back plugs if you dont have the mounting bracket on.

I also was going to mesh up and paint my engine cover, just for shows, but when the rockers went in the engine brackets came off and there sitting in a box in the garage, don't think I'm going to put them back on, unless the engine gets pulled than I need them.
I bet though It could just sit on top with the one bolt in the middle and be fine and stay there, Like I said though, only for show for me, I don't want any trapped heat underhood so my cover has been off since my first underhood mod many months ago. I actually took average temps for 3 days before I meshed mine, and another 3 days after. Believe it or not, my SC NOSEDRIVE (on the far left of the pic) runs 8-10°F cooler with the meshed cover. It helps for sure.

I agree completely. The Series 2 would benefit even more from either removing the cover, or meshing it.
