Default Premium fuel with new PCM?

I was looking at an INTENSE PCM and under the " Please Select Timing Tables" options it says : increase WOT ignition timing tables by up to 1 degree - ideal for naturally aspirated vehicles with any premium fuel, or supercharged vehicles with stock camshaft where 93 or 94 octane fuel is readily available (+$20.00)[b]

does that mean if I get a PCM I have to use midgrade or premium fuel

I am in college and cant really afford Premium

and what does it mean under core charge: I will mail my PCM in to be flashed?

its only about 3 bucks extra to fill a tank with premium vs regular... i doubt the 1 degree of timing is even worth it though.

core charge is if you cannot go without a PCM, you have them send you one. when you get it, you mail your old one back to them for a core charge, or refund.

If you don't change your timing, probably recommended at this point, you can still use regular. I have a standard Intense PCM and my car runs just fine on regular...

It means that you take your PCM out under your airbox and ship it to them. They flash it with their code and mail it back to you

(dammit, beat to it, I'm surprised anyone besides me is up this late )

Correct

They ship you one of their PCMs and charge you a $100 extra core charge. You get that $100 back when you send in your stock PCM.

A bit more expensive but much safer and MUCH BETTER route is a custom tune. I have a HP tuner/scanner and you don't live to far from me. What we can do is scan your car, send the scan to Gary at Holland Motorsports, and he can set up a fully custom tune for you. I would have to charge you $100 for the use of my credits but I would be able to flash your PCM as many times as you need while you mod. So $100 + Garys fees would give you much SAFER and Bigger gains.

Just a thought. And whats the cost differance between premium and reg? Usually around 20 cents a gal? Ok so .2 x 17 (full fill up) = an extra $3.4? Your never going to get a better performance out of a cheaper gas.

If price of gas is still an issue Gary can give a best possible tune for whatever gas you would like to run.

Hey thats a great idea, id rather do that than set it up online. I'll keep in touch, I have no money right now (c'mon tax rebate). Maybe sometime this summer?

and fair enough about the cost of premium, i guess its just always way more expensive in my head

and its a real bummer you sold those 20 spokes, I've been dying to find some of those

Yeah let me know! Better to tune for summer time anyway. I seem to find GM wheels fairly often. I'll let you know if I come across another set.

I disagree with the safer part. It'* more expensive and, although I'm sure he has experience, Intense'* tune is time tested. Don't take it from me, take it from the dozens of members (maybe even hundreds) that use it on here... Including me!

If you don't wanna take my word for it, you could also look at the testimonials...
