Default Transmission Upgrades - what to do?

Hi all,

I've been struggling with our old friend "chuggle" for a while and I'm getting close to having some work done on the tranny. I talked to the guy at the shop today and he'* agreed to put in whatever performance parts I want while the work is being done. So, I know next to nothing about transmissions and wanted to know what everyone would recommend. I was thinking about a new Torque converter and a shift kit....anything else anyone would recommend. This is my daily driver and I've never taken it to the track so I don't have a target time I'm after, just need reliable and fast

All opinions and ideas are welcome, although I'd like to keep the cost of the parts to say $1000 or less.

Thanks

There may be a different design of TCC solonoid available. I know there is for my 4T60. Supposed to be much more efficient in managing the TCC.

For the most part, you may just want to pop over to www.intense-racing.com and order what you need. Quite a few here have their trannies or parts in their trannies.

How do Intense and Thrasher and ZZP compare to each other. Is there a reason a lot of people here have Intense pieces?

Over on ClubGP, they tend to migrate to ZZP, since ZZP owns and sponsors that Forum.

On this Forum, you'll see people migrate to INTENSE for a couple of reasons. Their customer service and support is fantastic, and they pioneered a few things for the Bonneville, where the only Bonneville parts ZZP supports are those common to the GP.

INTENSE has pushed the limits of Bonneville Performance farther than anyone.

ZZP, Intense, and Thrasher are all good, proven vendors, but we probably have more experience with INTENSE here.

Both Scott Cook (Owner) and Todd Allen (Customer service manager) are members here, and own Bonnevilles.

Intense Racing is trusted much more around here because of all the things that they do with the Bonnes, ZZP is dedicated to GP'*

Plus Intense gives AWESOME customer support thanks to Todd, who also has a Black 2000

"Over on ClubGP, they tend to migrate to ZZP, since ZZP owns and sponsors that Forum. "
Not that you said it was, but I doubt that'* the only reason.
I have had great customer service from both zzp and intense.
I like that zzp has more support and testing with the n/a 3.8 and it seems like they try to go fast trying different methods too.(nic cam, L36 ss kit, */c&turbo, etc.)
I'd have to admit that when it comes to flat out overall pushing the envelope (with forced induction) intense seems to be where it'* at.
