SuperCharge or Not?
On my bonneville, i got a 97 Bonneville SE, and i got a problem. The motor i got is a regular 3800 Series II motor. The motor got alot of miles (hit 190k a few days ago) and she'* still running strong. I want to do a motor swap but i'm stuck inbetween two decisions. Should i go after another 3800 Series II motor exactly like the one that'* in there now with less miles, or go after an SSEi engine w/tranny and switch the computers? I plan on runnin this motor till spring hits then switch in the new motor. I plan on gettin the motor within the next month or two and building some of it up while its just sittin out of the car before putting it in. What would be the best deal for the $$$, i know both motors can be built and the SSEi is the motor i'm leaning towards, but alot would have to be done for it to be done. thanks

The wiring harness interior and exterior, computer, maybe gauge cluster and a bunch of other items need to be considered.
Proper research will yield you great results. Pick up the factory service manual for the car and year of possible donor motor. Research everything. Right down to motor mounts and subframe.
Randman did a swap of a 97 SSEi motor into a 90 SSE, did all the reasearch and it now runs and drives. There are many things to consider. Same to same is the easiest way to do it and many have done performance mods to their NA motors to get more power.
It really comes down to how much work you are ready and willing to do.

As long as the motor were to come out of a 97... He should have too many problems out side of swapping the PCM units and a lil hack'n'slice of adding and removing some parts of the wiring harness.
My advice would be is to get the whole wiring harness from the same car the engine came out of. Also grab the PCM. Assuming that the supercharged engine came out of another bonneville.

If you plan on moding the engine after the swap you might even look in to swaping some of the bottem end parts from the L36 to the supercharged one giving you the higher compression and the forced induction. I have seen a couple people working on this in the GPclub you probibaly will need to go to a larger pully unless you have the supporting mods to reduce KR
