PEM Installation
I got a good used set of PEMs early this winter and plan on putting them on this spring. However, my boss is out of town and i'm house sitting and he has a heated garage. Is this procedure possible to accomplish in a couple of hours. What would I need to remove to get the old ones out? Would it be easier to pull the rear manifolds out from underneath? I'd have to have it done by Sat morning when they come back or i'm in deep sh*t.

The front is a peice of cake, swapping in the new manifold can be done in 45 minutes. The rear however, is a total ***-ache, and shouldn't be attempted ( in your circumstances ) unless you're good with a set of ratcheting wrenches, and are confident mechanicly. 1st step on doing the rear is to unbolt the front dogbones and give yourself some room to work back there. The rest is self-explainatory, and keep 1 thing in mind: PB Blaster is your friend. Just let it soak for awhile, and it'll save ALOT of headaches.

Which car you doing this on? I'll assume your 97 is close to mine. The front shoudl be easy, the back will take a bit longer, so do tha tone first. I would suggest gettign some penitrating oil and lubing up all your bolts and studs a few times over the next several weeks. I will also be installing mine in March. From what I understand the front takes about 20 mins. The back can take about 2 hours.
What I did is take a trouble light and give everything a real good look. look at bolts and make a list of tools you will need. The look at everything that will be in the way and what you will need to do to get it out of the way. When I do mine I'm also doing rockers and springs so I'll be removeing the brace between the struts, the alternator, and a bank of sensors over the read head. You should be able to get away with only removeing that brace. Although I could be wrong on this as I'm not familure with your car, I can only assume it'* close to mine.

you dont think your boss would mind you playng mechanic in his garage? A lot of stuff can go wrong & then your car is stuck there half way done or you spill some grease in the floor. (murphis law)

hahahaha 2 hours? You will encounter rusted bolts that won't want to come out. I would definitely wait until you're at your own place before undertaking this project. It isn't that it'* hard, it just takes alot of patience and some ingenuity.

Well, I had to stay with my mother today because of her gal bladder surgery so I didn't attempt it. From the way it sounds thats not a bad thing. When I went to check my bosses house out I parked in the garage just to see what I had to work with. I noticed lots of obsticles so I see this might be a 2 day project. Man, I need a DD so I can have more time to work on this car. Could I get to the back manifolds from under the car?
