I saw at the Thrasher site about a shifter kit upgrade for the 4t65 tranny.. would it work also on the 4t65HD... I assume it would... has anyone tried it yet?? What settings did they use ?? Is it worth it ?? I notice too much slippage when the tranny is shifting on WOT and don't want to burn out the clutch, and get more speed instead of sitting there waiting for it to engage...

What about the Tranny cooler... would the tranny cooler from the GTP W body fit easily onto my 97 Bonneville SSEI ?? Another quick question.. I just wanted to know if it'* just the characteristic of these tranny or if I have a possible blown clutch pack/ clutch / torque converter. I notice in light normal driving ( trying to conserve gas at times ) that when it shifts from 3rd to 4th.. the rpm seems to show a lot of slip. When in 3rd rpm would be 1500.. then it would feel like it slips up to 2000 rpm.. then re-engages 4th at 1300 rpm.. but would be followed by an imediate shudder.

Trans coolers will fit and actually any trans cooler can be made to fit. Your best bet is to buy a kit specifically for your car, that I will soon offer LOL, or go to a local tranny shop and they can help you fit anything on you want. Either is easy to do. There are many things that can be hurting your tranny and most are electrical. Otherwise it is a clutch pack or hydraulic issue.

Keep me updated about the tranny cooler then... Would it be simply a bolt-on minor thing, or would I have to actually start moving the tranny around ( causing more time by removing braceS ? ). How would I know if it'* the clutch pack that'* going ??

I am no Guru just a mouth piece and to tell you the truth for the clutch pack you are better off to take it to a shop to be sure. That’* what I would do. I always get a few opinions and then start cutting. The tranny cooler kit will be a universal deal and yes it will be easy. The fun part is finding the best quality and good price. I don’t want unhappy customers. Usually the tranny runs like crap from the start when it is electrical. Otherwise it tends to be hydraulic or packs. If its gone don’t waste any money on half way solutions. The only way to go is Intense for a 4t65-e. They have it under control and with a limited slip you will be set for a long time. What kind of tranny fluid are you using? How old? How many miles on the tranny?

the Car has 95K on it km.. as far as I know.. I believe it'* the original tranny fluid.. I know I should replace it soon... it doesn't have a burnt smell to the fluid though.. ( heard that was the easiest and first sign that the tranny is going sour ). But I'm lazy so I'd rather do the shifter kit at the same time as the tranny fluid and filter change. I also wanted to have the tranny cooler by then too.. but I guess I'll have to wait and save.. because again... I"m lazy and I don't have that much time to keep ripping into the tranny 3 times..
How much would it roughly run me if to get this done at the shop ?? Just curious.. that'* all.

I would call a local shop to find out for ya but I’m in cali. Call a local shop and ask. I could call my ex in Lakefield and ask her but I am too lazy to bother so you will have to get up and get a phone book and call. LOL
I can have generic tranny kit figured out within a few days.

I'm really iffy about installing the Shifter kit myself.. I have basically done a few things to cars before ( obvious maintainance oil change..) and modded a bit mostly exhaust and intake.. I've never really played with the tranny since there'* millions of pieces in there and if it'* done wrong... I"m screwed . I heard the shifter kit requires some drilling of the tranny?? If that'* the case.. I might take it into a shop to do it. I thought it was just simply replacing some springs.. have you done it or know anyone that has ?? How long would it take roughly, and how difficult was it.?

One thing you might try is asking the guys at thrasher. They will have all the answers.
