The only fun you'll have is swapping drivetrains (if that's fun) maybe adding two wires to the pcm connector on the potentially new wiring harness and repinning the firewall connector.

One thing Mike. Do you have an emissions inspection where they plug into the DLC and need to verify your vin?

Glad you brought that up Bill. No, NY does not connect 1995 and older cars to the computer for inspection. Only 96 and newer. If the engine light is on, I believe they can fail you for it. I'll have to check with my friend who is NYS certified about that.

Don't worry about the light. that can be taken care of. lol My car never gets an engine light when it's going through inspection. :nm Dunno how that happens.

As long as they don't conect, then you won't have any real issues. My state does and the vin must be correct in the PCM. Because I run a 99 harness in my 97 car with a 99 PCM, I needed to make an adapter to convert the 99 harness back to 97 pcm and run the 97 pcm for a few minutes to be inspected. 120+ wires were mapped, soldered etc. It was funnnnnnn, in a "can I actually do it" kinda way. First turn of the key it fired up.

But I believe they look for it to at least come on for the brief moment it does come on though. So, it would at least need to come on and then disappear. How ever it is that you did it? Possible to disable the light even if an error pops up?

With tuning software you can turn off certain SES lights.

With tuning software you can turn off all reported items.

If there's a code, you can choose to not report, not illuminate the light, flash the light on first report etc etc etc.

If something were to pop up, I'd turn it off. My car doesn't have issues that it reports though. I leave the all the codes enabled. Except for the couple that would trigger based on the mods. Like camshafts will cause a P0300, so it's told to not report. EGR being blocked would cause a few to trigger, those are truned off.
