Not sure?

Well I installed my FWI on Saturday, but I'm not sure if I like the sound or not. When my 01 starts for the first time it sounds pretty much like a tin can, but after it has been running for a few minutes it sounds normal and it idles well but it whines (SC winding out) like a mother when you floor it. That doen't sound to bad but I'm real interested in what the CAI from Thrasher sounds like. Anyone? Has a lot of torque (low and high) but was getting that right after the 3.4" pulley, and PCM install.

Well, with any intake, you are going to get the screaming/whining sound because the engine can breathe better and there are no baffles. You can't get rid of it unless you put baffles on, in which would be the same as putting the stocker intake back on.

It's going to have that sound until it warms up. Mine does the same thing and i've just got the "rice pipe" intake w/ the K&N RX-4750 filter.
The first time my fiancee heard it she asked me if there was something wrong w/ the motor

The wife asked the same thing. However I'm still wondering if the Thrasher CAI will tone it down a little. I probably won't get rid of it anyway.

Underhood is more insulated then a fender so in theory it should tone it down a little but I doubt much. That "tin can" sound is from your IAC being open and you idling higher.
