Northstar V8 in 2000 SSEi

Just thinking out loud here haha.
Would it be possible to take the northstar v8 from the gxp bonneville and adding it to the 2000 SSEi, then supercharging it?

..... Why wouldn't you just supercharge the N* V8 in the GXP Bonneville then?

Shadowfax217 08-29-2007 03:56 AM

Cause I don't have a GXP

This sounds like a lot of work. Just about everything in the engine compartment is a different size and shape. There's much more than just the engine which you'd have to swap. Also, unless there have been some recent developments, there is no supercharger option available (aftermarket or otherwise) for this engine. My understanding is that no one has been able to crack the PCM.

I suppose it might fit.

Although the durability of the N* and it's head gasket issues leave quite a bit to be desired. I doubt a N* would hold up to the added stress over any amount of time. Not to mention that the availability of used N*'s is quite limited. Many yards won't sell them because of the HG reputation and their experience with the N*.

As Venom mentioned in another thread, it's best to either buy it new or skip it.

Supercharging one would be interesting. I suppose you would need to fabricate lower intake from metal to withstand the positive pressure..

Moving this to Performance and Brainstorming. It is not a mechanical issue. ;)

Where are you going to find this supercharger, manifold, and custom PCM? That's the ultimate question.

For far less money, you can get far more satisfaction out of an L67.

GXP_Vince 08-29-2007 10:08 AM

In my opinion :ripped: I love the GXP because I dont see many of them around but.... I would have rather gotten a 2003 SSEi (Black) because you can do so much more with them.

Now a L67 with a 4t65E-HD trans and the PCM and everything from an SSEi into a GXP would be nice. You could have the looks of the GXP with the L67 after market.

Shadowfax217 08-29-2007 12:13 PM

Yeah but I've always admired the look of the SSEi
Don't get me wrong the GXP is fierce looking too but I just feel the SSEi molds together so well
