New Intake, G-Teched

As most of you can remember, my previous best was 8.2x*s with the Gtech earlier on in the week. I just custom fabricated a K&N conical filter to some PVC pipe, ( its not a CAI )
and I ran another Gtech.

8.12s with the new system, so thats almost a full tenth of a second off 0-60 time just from a warm K&N intake setup. Not bad at all! My second run was 8.8x*s because of the heat of a few runs. Anyways, just thought id let you all know, if anyone has any ideas to close off the filter, since it is touching battery now as it is, as my under the hood space is EXTREMELY limited. If anyone knows of a ram air tube, from dryer ducting running to right infront of the filter would help any, I would appreciate. Thanks everyone!

Does your car match the pre 97 GP bodies? I'm sure many of them have intake setups you could learn from or buy.

i figure i had more then .1 difference, but it's a different filter, pipe, and engine bay.

Oh yeah and...no more engine clacking, it sounds like a real car now.......

Oh yeah, these N/A motors have a nice sound to them, not all fubared by an eaton ;)

Switch to a metal pipe, and you'll be louder, and a bigger filter will sound different too. Pull your MAF and @ wot it's insane.

i would check out clubgp.com to see what they can say, they have more experience with your body type.

Yeah, I already have the MAF pulled. I did a video today, of a WOT run to 60, ill get it up soon. Does anyone else have ythe problem though, that your intake sounds like it flutters? Mine sounds ALOT like that, especially under WOT.

Is it because everything is so choked?

BonneMeMN 04-18-2004 12:09 AM

Flutters? Ummm.. You may need that MAf back in.

Can it possibly have anything to do with there being a small hole in the exhaust? Inconsistent backpressure? Or the cat a little plugged? Its still the original exhaust system, its pretty rusted from the Canadian winters and the rear section connecting to the cat, the flange piece, is leaking from exhaust, and its starting to rattle too.

BTW, does all GM dealerships sell the Top End cleaner?

macho_mike21 04-18-2004 09:23 PM

it could be the exhaust. Our truck has a hole in the manifold and it makes a flutter/clicking noise when you step on it.

Are you using the stock accordian like tubing with the K&N? If so i would probably put the MAF screen back in. If you got a smooth metal pipe then pull the MAF screen.
