New Intake
 

Hey guys my first post :-)

Neway i have a '94 Bonne SSE and i just ordered a new intake off ebay. I did a little lookin around and figured theres not a whole lot that can be wrong with it and the seller has a pretty good rep with about 7,500 + and around 40-. The intake is the one that uses a cone filter dun know if it has its own special name. The one thing i was lookin at today though when i was replaceing my Master Brake Cylinder. Theres a sensor wire goin into the stock airbox what am i going to do with that when i put in the new intake?

Be careful of generic filters. Many of them hold water. No kidding. They breathe WORSE than a stock paper filter. Do the water test when you get it. Plan on maybe throwing it in the trash. Use the pipe.

The IAT (intake air temp) sensor needs to be in a hole in the side of the pipe, drill one if you need to, or buy a filter with an IAT hole already in it. I suggest the filter in my signature below this post.

i hope that intake is one of the longer ones, not the shorty ones, and i would recommend a K&N filter, not a cheepie paper one. the paper one will hold lots of water and hurt your performance

Ya its long in the pic on ebay it looks like the filter is large and come pretty close to the front of the engine compartment. Also to its advantage it looks like its close to the washer fluid tank (its the double tank in the pic). I was planing on a K&N filter when i find which will fit it.

And im originally from Birmingham Alabama but i live in Massachusetts im 18 and absolutely love my car now that the brakes dont leak now all i have to do is fix the door panels and the glove box latch. The door panels i stripped the pins that hold them in when i replaced the door speakers :-) and my friend somehow broke the latch that hold my glove box closed :x

Mine was the second ADTR intake of 6 that were made. No longer available. That's the pipe only, by the way. The filter is a K&N RX-4750. Allmachtige and I were the first to test-fit and run them in Bonnevilles. I made the heat shield custom.

But if my pipe does fit and everthing installs fine and i get a nice K&N filter what kind of performance increase can i expect? Im thinking not much but ive heard you can get quite a kick out of it.

I hve another question being 18 and of limited fundage i find myself at a fork in the road. I have on one hand my beatifully running 94' Bonneville SSE that is my daily driver and though it is reching very high mileage (it just got an oil change yesterday with 103,000 miles) runs flawlessly and on the other i have a sad little beast of a '72 International Scout 2 which is uhhh...sad. Thats the best way to describe it the top thing on that list is a trannie rebuild. Should i put money into my bonnie to get it nice or try to get my scout running? I am 80% sure my Bonnie is gunna get all the love cus of th elong list of stuff wrong with my scout but if it was you guys choice what would you pick?

If you're not supercharged, you won't gain as much, but you WILL get a snappier throttle response and about 10 hp. You'll feel it, especially after the PCM re-learns the new airflow.

103k isn't high miles on an L27, bud. Not at all.

What bout gas mileage anyimprovements there? Im pushing 16mpg now and gas being a min of 2.10 around here anything will be greatly appriciated.

Wierd though i bought mine 2 days ago he didnt have ne with K&Ns o well must have missed it the exact same tube neway.

another thought for the IAT sensor is to just relocate it farther away from the heat of the engine, I relocated mine right next to the pcm. you can either buy a extension to do this or if your crafty with electrical you can do it yourself. A couple of wire tires holds it right in place. :)

That seems pretty low, it's quite possible your O2 Sensor is cooked ;)
